Question about new VGF in Big Pine key

Yes but for me the place I wash up after a sit down and toothpaste splatter, just not the same lol.

I can see your point. What's the difference between a studio with no kitchenette and a hotel room? Although I don't cook in a studio, I've enjoyed the ability to heat up left-overs, make a cup of tea or coffee, or even have some yogurt that I've stored in the refrigerator.

At the GF, price over time is one pretty significant difference with the resort studios--the DVC advantage we all know and ❤️ .

Besides, being in BPK wouldn't be that far to pop over to Gaspy's and nuke something.

You can still make coffee or tea (if you can stand tea made with water from a coffeemaker--ICK! 😝) and there's a mini-fridge.

You all do realize the water may it be kitchen or bathroom comes from the same source and same pipe system right?
Of course and some may say it’s strange but it matters to me.

I enjoy herbal tea and need a microwave. I understand that some don’t.

Those portable kettles are pretty awesome. Microwave does have a beverage setting though.
Microwaves do not evenly heat the molecules of the water thereby you are not maximizing the flavor of the tea leaf

but the point is one does not need to demand a kitchenette if only using it to heat water

i welcome more and more resort studio conversions If you need a microwave for tea, get a kettle. I would rather more choices in resorts and rooms than argue that studios must have the kitchenette

DVC knows there is a market for the studio conversions. I just don't like them changing the room balance of the resort after the fact. I think CCV did it the right way except the cabins do allow them to sell more points making it somewhat unbalanced. But at least they did this up front and we knew what we were buying. Would have much rather seen a separate condo association.

what In the world are you talking about???

At the point I played topic sheriff, the discussion had gone heavily toward why electric kettles are superior means of making tea.

You and I were apparently composing our posts at about the same time.

Thank you for subsequently returning to the thread topic.

The walk from BPK is not that close to Gasperillas to heat up something and walk back to your room.

And, there is no mini fridge. It’s a beverage cooler. Now, they may be similar but we have to wait until someone actually is there. So, it may or may not meet needs.

I get why they didn’t do a full kitchenette with a sink because of the quick flip but honestly, there is no rational reason to not have included a microwave in these units when I am pretty sure there would have been a small space for it without taking away from anything.

So basically they are just a refurbed hotel room then being passed off as a DVC studio.

No, not if you feel you must go clear back to your room to eat it, I agree. There are tables outside Gaspy's people can use. It is true there may not be chairs along the veranda again thanks to He Whom We Love To Blame.

It was a generic term, but if we wish to be precise, there are already "beverage coolers" in a lot of rooms/villas.

They can have room variety and still have a small kitchenette that is built in. It takes up such a small area especially if they want to minimize the footprint. Its done to reduce cost of the conversion not to give you options.

I have been to VGF a lot so I know the set up. The point was more the resort rooms are what they are bur the items missing mean something to people.

Not having a microwave and what could turn out to be a different type of refrigerator is a disappointment. Walking to the QS place is not a viable alternative.

And if it is the same as a refrigerator then why change the name? There has to be a reason.

Until we know for sure, no one can say it’s the same.

And I am among that "some" for several reasons--
1) Two resort studios will be slightly less than a 1br, pointswise.
2) Those two studios will house up to 10 people vs. the 1br's 5.
3) Two full bathrooms instead of a tub-sink and shower-sink-toilet split bath.
4) The GF has several good-to-excellent restaurants; not everyone wants to fix food in their villa.
5) Big Pine is more conveniently located for pool, restaurants and quick access to the main building.
6) Easier to achieve peace/privacy for parents of adult or teen kids--two separate studios costing substantially less than a 2 br or Grand Villa. Also possibly appealing to 2-4 adults wanting separate spaces.

Bottom line: Not everyone wants a kitchen even though must-have-kitchen appears to dominate among those posting here. That's particularly so when the dining plans become available again.

Conclusion: Disney may be smarter than we think catering to that.
As for 1,2,3,4,6, aren’t resort studios and deluxe studios the same points? So this has always been an option and isn’t solved by these new rooms. Am I missing something?

Many of resort studios have connecting doors so you have the set up line Poly to be in a two room space.

Deluxe studios only connect to 1 bedrooms or don’t connect to anything at all.
