Hello Everyone.
I just made reservations for a car rental pick up at Orlando (MCO) for 9 days and drop off at Ft. Lauderdale (FLL). I received the reservation email with the total:

Guaranteed Base Rate Included
Unlimited Miles Included

Sub total.....................................................$232.66

Surcharges:
Concession Fee Recov Chrg 9.8 Pct $23.19
Florida Surcharge 2.00/day $18.00
Tire/battery Fee .05/day $0.45
License Recoupment Fee .39/day $3.51

Taxes:
Sales Tax (6.50%) $18.06

Total Estimate................................................$295.87

Is this the final price? I only ask because it says total estimate. I have another reservation with Budget, but this is much less and I’m going to cancel Budget. This is for a standard SUV by the way. Also, Budget asked for my credit card info National did not. Am I guaranteed a standard SUV? I will need it due to there being 2 adults/3 children and plenty of luggage.

TIA!

I have never paid more than the "total estimate" but I have always picked up and returned during the timeframe that I indicated on my ressie. If someone were to return later or pick up earlier, it could add on another day, returning without a full tank could change the rate, but other than that I think you normally will pay the "total estimate" rate.

If you are picking up a car prior to May 20 you may want to give this a try.

I started a thread yesterday in the transportation section..

Alamo, midsize suv deal..

Alamo deal midsize suv.. you may want to check it. I rented a mid size suv, considered 8 days (7 days plus 1/2 day)
with a walmart code of 430710, coupon code ad2051mmd (e coupon from mousesavers)
$140 including all taxes & fees.

Like said above - I also have never paid more than estimated price and have always been charged the price on the reservation.

My guess is they say estimated because you may rent it earlier or return it later which may change the rate and/or coupon or rate code may not be valid or accepted and/or any number of other reasons such as other fees that were not on reservation or may have to be charged for specific reasons that you may not be aware of.

But if all is good with no problems or extra fees and you follow the reservation your rate will be fine. They will not raise base price for no reason.
