I tried making ressies for dinner there one night and was told the latest they would be accepting ressies were 3pm. The park is open until 7pm that night.

Is this some sort of mistake. It just seems that 4 hours is a long window to not be accepting ressies.
Can I walk up after that time and get seated?
I did end up making ressies for lunch, but would much rather go there for an early dinner before leaving (say about 5:30ish)

TIA

No mistake, thats when they close when the parks close early. Also, since the park is closing that early, means your going in the off season. You most likely won't need a reservation. I've eaten there several times without one. :)

Just last week (sniff, sniff ... i SO wish we were back at Universal and Disney!) We walked into Mythos around 2:50 - it was cold and rainy, and they kept the doors open til 4 pm. Once they "closed" the doors, they asked we make our last drink selection. We had no reservation and there was plenty of seating

It was a FANTASTIC restaurant!

Ate there 2 years ago for lunch and was very pleasantly surprised as to the quality of food for a park restaurant and just walked right in.

Mythos has been voted the world's best theme park restaurant for six consecutive years!:thumbsup2
I don't know of any other theme park restaurant that even comes close.

Eat there everytime we go more than once, never needed a ressie. Most I've waited was for about 10-15 minutes and that was at a peak peak time. Off peak, don't think a thing about it.
