Wife and I are coming for two weeks to Orlando and I am not a big fan of high drops on coasters and was wondering does the mummy ride at universal have any big drops?

Thanks

Well I dont remember if there were drops- ( i think so but can't remember 100%) but it definitely is VERY thrilling and exciting.
DEF was one of me and my hubby's favorites but DEF thrilling and a tad scary. If you have any fears of thrill rides, def not for you.

No really high drops (it's indoors) but it is a pretty intense ride - and one of our most favorites!

Apparently we're not alone - I just read this on Screamscape...

(4/18/09) Revenge of the Mummy at Universal Studios Florida just shocked the enthusiast world by stealing the crown for “Best Ride in America” over Cedar Point’s Millennium Force. Yes, according to the votes tallied by a poll at Theme Park Insider, Revenge of the Mummy took home the prize with 54% of the votes.

The description on the Universal website is HERE

I can put them in the mail tomorrow... no charge!

It doesn't have those big straight down drops that I can remember. I do know it was my favorite ride there. The Simpson's ride was fun, too.

It is the same technology used in Dinosaur at Animal Kingdom, so if you can handle that, you can handle Mummy.

Welcome to the DIS!

I'm going to move this over to our Universal Studios boards for you.

Not really-- Mummy is a steal roller coaster. Similar to Everest- not at all like Dinosaur.

You're definitely thinking about some other ride because the two rides aren't even close to similar.

The mummy ride is always on my "must do" list. One of my all-time favorites. :cloud9:

Never been on Dinosaur but I can say I have been on the aerosmith roller coaster and did just fine. Does that help?

If you handled that you will be fine on the Mummy.:thumbsup2

The Mummy is in a class of its own..
Its no Dinosuer and not as intense as Aererosmith-no inversions..
It is part coaster part story and will soon be your fav ride in Orlando..imo:thumbsup2

It's basically a coaster mixed with a dark ride attraction and one of the best attractions in Orlando,or anywhere seeing as how it beat Millenium Force for best ride in America. The coaster parts have a launch like Incredible Hulk but much tamer and a couple good pops of airtime, there is one drop towards the end of the ride where fog effects make it look like it's a much bigger drop than it really is,probably not much more than 20-30 feet in reality.

The coaster part is not any more intense than Space Mountain. It is nothing like Dinosaur. I think the other person who said that must have had it confused with another ride. I bet they were talking about the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland which is just like the Dinosaur ride at Disneyworld. Indiana Jones does have some mummies on the ride but it is not the Revenge of the Mummy.

There is a part where you feel like you're dropping a lot but it's mostly an effect like Doom1001 said above.

Do try it! This ride is amazing and I just love it.

I'm a certified coaster chicken and I love the Mummy! Its one of my favorite rides. By comparison I did Expedition Everest once and I'll never do it again.

like other said- no scary drop- they use the illusion of darkness to make it all come together. it's an awesome ride, and i will tell you that my husband, who is a bit of a coaster chicken- LOVED it- no qualms about riding it 2 or 3 times in a row. when i think of "big drop", i think of superman, coaster of steel, at the 6 flags parks- and i've done that one once, and need not ever do it again. but the mummy is nothing like that.
