Hello!

I arrive on Saturday for our first stay at the cabins. Do they offer mousekeeping like the others? I saw on a different thread the amount of money people left for mousekeepers in the other resorts and I wondered what they did at the cabins. Can someone let me know what to expect? I know it said "we'll do the dishes" in the cabin description on the WDW website. Also, does anyone remember what kind of dishes (ceramic or plastic) they provide? I have 3 kids 5, 2 and 1...I may need to pack plastic dishes. TIA!

You will have full housekeeping just like any other resort. They will run the dishwasher if you have dishes sitting around in the sink. Sorry I don't remember the dishes. We brought paper plates along. Have fun!

yes they have mouse keepers and they do do the dishes and the cabin is fully stocked with glasses, plates, silverware ect. but they DONT supply coffee filters make sure you bring those if needed and the coffee was not the greatest so bring your own, I love the ice machine in the freezer that is sooo nice some people tip the keepers every day as it could be a different one every day usually 1 per person per day but its up to you have fun we truely LOVE the cabins and will now stay no where eles

as for the dishes they are hard plastic type they won't break if you drop them the glasses are the mason jar type so you may want to bring a few plastic cups though and it depends on how much time your spending in there. but again if your little one drops a dish they won't break and yes if you leave any dishes in the sink they will empty the dishwasher and refill it and start it and they clean the floors daily and vaccum and make the beds they also clean the coffee maker every day, last year our house keeper didn't do the best job instead of emptieing the dishwasher she would just reload on top of the clean dishes and rewash them very annoying but enjoy your stay

Thanks so much! I like french press coffee, so I'll bring my own. I will bring some extra sippy cups...but at least I don't have to worry about plates:-) You guys are AWESOME:cheer2:

2 days to go! pixiedust:

Just spent a fabulous week in the cabins! Just an FYI..there were no cereal bowls, we ended up eating cereal out of glasses. I would bring some bowls and extra glasses because the mason jar glasses were small as were the coffee cups ( we brought our own of those too). Have a great time :0)

If there were no cereal bowls you should have called mousekeeping and asked for some.

I would swear we had 4 of them and used them quite a bit.

I do wonder how much kitchen equipment disappears from the cabins :(

Yeah..there were SUPPOPSED to be bowls in your cabin...my kids are big cereal eaters and we couldnt have survived without bowls for them...well, yes we could have..Ive seen my kids eating cereal out of frying pans because they were to lazy to start the dishwasher!!!:sad2:

:rotfl2: I remember my when my brother was a teenager visiting me in NY (where I didn't have a dishwasher) he ate dry cereal because the bowls were dirty...like he couldn't hand wash one while I was at work! BOYS:rotfl:

LOL...it aint just BOYS....I have all girls!!! Lazy comes in both sexes!!!!

The plates/bowls and mugs are a fairly thick ceramic not plastic.

We found the mason jar glasses to be awkward to drink out of so we picked up some plastic cups for cold beverages. We also bought mom a new coffee mug as the ones supplied are very small and when someone needs their coffee they need a lot of it!:coffee: I like to keep mom happy and full of coffee.

I found housekeeping to be lacking at our cabin no sweeping or vacuuming was done during the first 3 days they came just left some towels. I had to call them to get paper towels and toilet paper.

I cancelled housekeeping after our sheets were changed on the 4th. day. I clean for a living so it was no problem for me to run the vacuum and then I didn't have to deal with trying to get the cabin cleaned by someone else.

This was one reason we loved the DVC we stayed at because housekeeping DOESN'T come everyday and we like that. I know it's freaky of me but I would rather clean and be happy with it.

I agree the plates are ceramic and there should be six plates, bowls, cups ect. Mousekeeping has been very helpful, all you need to do is ask them for what you need or call the front desk. In the closet in the hall are cards that list what is available for the cabins. They will even bring you a high chair if you need it.We love the cabins and will not stay any place else. Have a great trip.

Thanks again everyone! I am finishing up the packing right now, I hope I don't forget anything!:crazy2: Stressful!

Oh, I could have wrote the part about mousekeeping. I love FW but the mousekeeping was terrible. I even called one day to ask them to clean while we were out since it had'nt been vacuumed in days & they told me they'd be there at 10 & we get back at 2 & still no mousekeeping. I did not tip them at all. Hopefully this year will be better.

I will check right when we get there so we don't have morning problems. We get in late at night and we did order some soups with our grocery delivery so that will be a problem almost immediately.

The comment about the coffee cups makes me even more glad I'm shipping custom "trip" mugs for everyone to be waiting there for us.

I better check on that order!

We used to condo rental on vacation versus hotels anyway so the mousekeeping (if lacking) won't bother me. I've budgeted for tipping, if I don't use it, more goodies for me! :)
