Question about MM and a possible rant about MS

Well I got paranoid and cancelled my reservation and tried to rebook, had a new page all queued up and ready to go and lost it Oh well. I guess Im back at BRV instead of CCV for MM weekend.

What if your reservation is a combination of resale and direct points?

So I had to call MS for another big issue with points not allocating properly I casually asked about MM night and qualifying. I have my reservation for 3 nights and 1 night is MM, I used my resale points to book the stay, these points are in the same membership where I hold direct benefits. MS said my MM night has to be booked with direct points to qualify for preregistration, using resale will only qualify me for general registration.

Am I crazy or have I been told multiple times here on the boards that as long as I use the membership that contains direct points it is fine for all registration types?

My rant is that i feel like 50% of the time I call MS they are not competent in what they are doing and things get messed up.

It's unfortunate they they give conflicting answers, depending on who you talk to. I was given the same wrong info last year...

Aside from something that can be translated to "cash value" (like using direct/grandfathered points for a member cruise, or for a DL Tokyo hotel) are there any "intangible" membership benefits tied to the points you use rather than the blue card status of the member? Perks like BLT Lounge, ImaginAtrium after hours, Aulani Member Celebration etc are given to blue card holders regardless of what points they used to book their stay. I don't see why MM should be different, especially since a stay may be booked well before the MM dates are known.
