Question about military tickets

I have a military son who is joining us for the weekend next weekend. We have 5 day park hoppers and he has a 3-day military ticket. We will be there before he comes, so that is why we didn't all get the military tickets. However, we will have a 6th day (with our son there), so we are trying to decide how to handle that. I noticed that 1-day park hoppers are actually more $ than the military 3-day ticket.

Question: I know that there is a limit of 6 military tickets per military member per year. Is that for calendar year, as in 6 in 2015, 6 in 2016? Or just within a year of the purchase of the tickets?

Also, is it 6 Disneyland Resort tickets per year and the Disneyworld military tickets are a separate thing?

I'm trying to decide if it is worth it to get military tickets for us to use on the final day with him there, or whether to have him 'save' them in case we/he go again sometime in 2016.

Thanks!

They've actually upped the max number of tickets to 12 through the promo period. The current promo period is Sept. 28, 2014-Dec. 20, 2015. Disneyland resort and DisneyWorld tickets are handled separately so they don't count against each other. Since the promo period is almost over, I'd probably get the salute tickets.

Perfect, thanks!

No problem! We use the salute tickets whenever we go :). We also stay on site whenever we can get the 40% discount on the Grand or 30% off DLH.

Now I wish we would have only bought 3-day hoppers and then used the 3-day salute tickets for the second half of our trip when our son is with us. But we thought we were upgrading to AP's and going again in June . . . now we decided that we are going to Aulani instead! :goodvibes

I think that Aulani is a fair trade off! I'm dying to go, let us all know how your trip is.

Yes, I will try to remember to post in June! :goodvibes This will be our first trip. We have 2 nights booked at the Hale Koa and then we will head out to Aulani. We're celebrating my 50th b'day and our son's college graduation. :thumbsup2

The military tickets don't have the regular 14 day expiration. So if you only use 1 day and happen to go back before the end of this year's promotion you could use the remaining days. Or you could use your PH and your 5 day on the same day and get double FPs.

Interesting, how do we activate both of the tickets on the same day?
