Question about meeting Rapunzel

Is it as crazy to meet Rapunzel at DLR as it is at WDW? If so, what is the best plan to meet her?

We were there on Thursday of last week and it was 90 minutes from 9 am til 3pm when I stopped checking and gave up on trying to meet her!

It is very crazy. We had to talk to a CM about how to do it. They close the line after a certain number of people are in it. Then they tell you an approximate time they will start allowing you to line up, which was about 60 minutes (I think that is right) away from the beginning of the meeting time. My mom hung out around the carousel and kept checking back with the CM about when she was allowed to get in line. Once they let her get in line, she called us and we got in line and had about 45 min to wait. This was in early December during what was supposed to be a slow time, but I don't think it was slow compared with our normal Sept slow. If it wasn't for my girls looking forward to it and asking for it every day, I would not have done it!

We waited about an hour (we got in line before it opened) it was worth it though because my girls were SO excited! They close the line off at a 90 min wait and then you can kind of hover around the end of the line and they will let one family get at the end of the line every 5-10 min. I would find out what time it opens and get in line way before they open it.

Her M&G is near the exit of the Pinnochio ride. We got in line abou 4:30 on our last day. The posted wait was 90 minutes, but our actual wait was only 45. They cut off the line at 5:00 when we were there. I believe that the entire queue is visible (unless this varies). While we were in line, there was about 10 minutes or so when the line didn't move at all (I assume they were on break during that time).I was happily surprised when we got to see Rapunzel and Eugene so much earlier than expected.

The line at DLR is MUCH worse than the line at WDW. When we were at WDW last week, the line for Tangled was maybe 45 minutes at 9:30 a.m. (just after park opening). The line at DLR is usually up to 60-90 minutes shortly after park opening. I've never actually tried waiting...but those were the posted times that I saw. The line at WDW in the morning is at least alongside the wall by the castle in the shade. The line at DLR just snakes around the building and is in the sun.

Can I ask what makes this such a long wait and why so many people would want to wait that long for it? I have read about it but thought you just got to go in, have your photo snapped with the character(s) and on you go. Is there something else to this M&G that I'm not aware of?

And are other character meet & greets this bad, as far as wait time? I've read that Mickey can be found at the end of going through is house... does it take an hour to go through his house?

We'll be there mid Sept and know my 3 year old is going to LOVE seeing Rapunzel. However, with that kind of wait times... eek!!

Unfortunately if you want to see the princesses or Rapunzel, or Mickey and Minnie at their house you have to wait at least 30 mins...and sometimes a lot more. We waited 60 for the princesses. We waited 30 for the fairies. Rapunzel was not there yet. We got lucky and found Mickey and Minnie in DCA so didn't have to wait for them. Good luck!

I think part of the reason the wait to see Rapunzel is so long is because this is the ONLY way you are going to get to have your picture taken with her--you aren't going to run into her anywhere else in the park. She is in the new parade, but she is on a float.

They've also (rightly) put her Meet and Greet in Fantasyland, which is a place that gets more and more crowded as the day goes on...so it stands to reason that the line to see her is going to stay busy at all times.

Mickey and Minnie can be found in DL and CA in places other than in their houses, so the wait to see them can be avoided.

My group is doing DL on Wednesday, July 5th after a 7 am Goofy's Kitchen ressie. We've yet to put effort into seeing Rapunzel at WDW due to how crazy long the line gets, but it'd be great to see her tower room at DL.

Getting in line first thing will obviously make the wait shorter....but when we were there the first week of December she didn't show up until an hour after park opening, so you still wait an hour to see her, but we were within the first dozen to get in once she opened.

Why do people wait that long....well, the movie is new so there is a lot of interest in her, that's why we waited (not my choice but the girls were adamant, lol). It's the only place you'll see her except on a float in the parade. Another reason the line can move so slow is that they do not hurry you along like some of the princesses do.....not sure if that's just how they choose to do it with her, or if she simply hasn't been around long enough to learn the fine art of talking while posing and gently pushing you along after the shutter snaps, lol.

Is it worth it...well, if you have a child that loved the movie, yeah I guess it is, because they are quite interactive and really hold lovely conversations with you as opposed to just sign, snap and move you out. I'm not very good about lines so I wasn't thrilled with the wait, but at least it was morning and cool.....no way would I do that now that it's getting hotter, lol. The whole line is outside (or was in December and May...we didn't stop in May but saw the line many times and it never seemed to get short).

Hopefully as time goes on this character will lose some of it's "new" and therefore be a bit more reasonable. I seem to recall folks talking about Tiana being a long line when her movie first came out....but we have stopped to say hello to her several times simply because the line was only a family or two long and I love her dress, lol. Didn't care much for her movie personally, but not sure I'm in the majority there or not.

It took 30 minutes maximum....maybe less. They had the 90 minute sign up the whole 6 days we were there, it never changed but we made small talk with other little princess parents in the park and they all said the wait was never over 45 minutes although the sign always said 90 minutes.

Also Rapunzel and Flynn spent at least 6-7 minutes with my girls. My 2 year old sat on Flynn's lap/for for at least 4 minutes and my 5 year old DD told Rapunzel about all the rides she had been on. Rapunzel talked about how she can't go on many rides with her hair and how long it takes to wash and dry it etc. They seem to let 2 families into the room at a time, we were the last family (of 2). We got super Photopass pictures!!! I really couldn't believe how long the interaction was and I was the one to say "ok time to go". To me it was well worth the wait!!!!!

Oh I'm *so* glad to hear this as I am DREADING the long wait to see her! The 30 minute wait for Pixie Hollow on our last trip just about did my little boy in...90 minutes would be agony for him. Knowing that it could very well be less is wonderful!

It sounds like a magical visit with Rapunzel and Flynn, too!

Gotcha. I'm thinking maybe taking such an approach on our second day in the park so we don't feel pressured. Or maybe we'll be lucky and the crowds will be low!

That is THE cutest thing ever. I'm trying to get used to the new "spend more time with the guest" approach, as I always feel awkward trying to hold a conversation with them in character But I'm getting used to it! I'll have to think of questions to ask them!

We were able to do Tangled yesterday. DS8 and DS3 love the movie and Flynn. At least for this week, it opens at 11:00 am, even though the park opened at 8:00. We went over at about 10:30 and there were some people already there, although nothing was really organized. A CM said that they don't start the line until 10:45. I believe it was about 11:30 by the time we got in to see Rapunzel, and luckily Flynn was there as well. Apparently, he is in and out through the day. The interaction at this M&G was really good. I did an autograph book using prints from some of the DISign threads. Flynn flipped through the book with the boys and they enjoyed that.

Actually, they got a lot of attention and compliments from characters and CMs with that book! Goofy was trying to ask me where/how I got the cards, and it took me a while to figure out what he was trying to say, lol. I told him they were from the DISboards.
