Can anyone help.we are flying with Thomas Cook to Sanford going out of termial 1(i think) and i am looking to know if there is any smoking areas after you check in and also after you go through security.

The link HERE is for Terminal 2 and it shows designated smoking areas.
I had a look on the map for Terminal 1 and couldn't see any - but this was only a quick look. If you have a look round you may be able to find something I missed :thumbsup2

There are no smoking areas at all once you go through security, although last year it still said on the website that there were. So you need to get your fill before you check through. I don't know if they have updated the website, but I can imagine there have been a fair amount of disgruntled people because of it. ;)

terminal 2 definately has a smoking area,by gate 300.but i think you are out of luck, with terminal 1.

Are you very sure about that? I heard someone ask in Duty Free last year and they were told there is no smoking beyond security. I never went to look for a place so I can't say that is incorrect but I thought the legislation does not permit smoking within a public building :confused3

Was what I thought too, would be pleasantly surprised if I stumbled across one next month though :lmao:

:goodvibes

Theres defo a smoking area in terminal one. It only opened a couple of weeks ago,not very well signposted but up the steps where the cafe is and turn left down the corridor :)

Maybe the UK is finally catching up with the rest of the world where for over a decade have effectively managed to implement sealed off smoking zones where the smoke is contained and does not infringe on the comfort of the non smokers.

Oh rats! I just remembered I am flying from Glasgow this year, not Manchester. Irrelevant to me then - it will take Glasgow at least a decade to catch up.

the one in terminal 2,opened maybe 8 months ago,it has been a while anyway.
it is by gate 300 & is like a cage, that you go into.it is signposted, when you get to gate 300.
they were deciding where to make one,at terminal 1 & it looks like this, has now opened as well.
i don't smoke,but hubby does.he's forever wandering off & i needn't ask him,where he's going:)

Now you can buy your ciggies in Duty Free and still go and smoke (your duty paid ones at least) ;)

In some ways it is easier if there is no smoking allowed - well for me anyway. I have no problems with not smoking as long as I know to be prepared for it, so for some odd reason going through security at least I dismiss the idea and don't think about it again .... until I get outside in Orlando :smokin::smokin::smokin:

Do they allow these on the plane:smokin:, asking for my friends who are looking into "how to survive" the 9hour flight

I don't see why not. DCL man has used them  Honestly, you don't think about it on the plane. Nobody is smoking around you, no ciggies in sight, no adverts, pictures ...... It really isn't that bad. You go to bed at night and get up in the morning and for most people, more than 9 hours have passed between the last cigarette yesterday and the first one today. There are always patches if your friends prefer. Whatever they choose, if it is something they haven't tried before I recommend testing it before they go. Some nicotine patches made me dizzy and ill.

Are they good? I don't need anything for the flight. I don't actually think about it, but have looked at them more in terms of a means to quit.
They help to take the edge off the craving for a cigarette but they aren't as satisfing!

I had no trouble "smoking" it anywhere, airport lounges, the plane or queueing for immigration.
