Question About Maliboomer Removal

Whatever you think about safety at various theme parks, the facts speak for themselves.

According to the link, in 2009 there were about 10 reported major accidents involving injuries and deaths at all amusement parks and theme parks. Actually there were only 2 deaths (the monorail and the Firehawk, and the firehawk one was because of a health issue-not the park's fault) in 2009, and many of the reported injuries were park workers and not guests. Compare that to injuries/accidents/deaths from driving, sports, bee stings, vending machines falling on people, shark attacks, and you'll see that amusement parks are very safe.

Most often, amusement park deaths/accidents of guests are due to:
-Health issues of guests
-Guests being stupid

Neither of which amusement parks can control. And while rarely the park makes a mistake, they do a darn good job for being open 365 days a year (in Disney, Universal and Seaworlds cases).

Supposedly the chatter I have heard is at this time plans to remove Maliboomer have been put on hold indefinitely. It doesn't sound like plans of removing it have been completely written off but they have at least been put on the back burner for now.

I would personally think the MBR is a bit scarier because you're out in the open, rather than indoors like in ToT.

I agree - I find Maliboomer way more scary then TOT!

We went on Maliboomer in December (DH convinced only because it was my birthday and did it as an extreme favor) and the main reason I disliked it was because of the claustrophopic feeling I had the entire ride because of the scream shields. I'm not normally claustrophobic, but I was really glad to get out of that seat.

I hate those shields too!

So here is an update for some of you, once again I have proved to be a total chicken and then some.

I froze up around Maliboomer and ToT, did not get on neither ride. I just couldnt do it.

I was wondering how that went! I was busy with work and just too tired to be online much so I missed this post. I just now thought of it so I went back to find this thread and see if you posted.

Oh well, maybe next time. Take a brave friend with you. :rotfl: I'm not really a fan of those type of rides but I wanted to see ToT for the theme and try it at least once. Now I will go on it maybe once a trip. Still not my favorite, but the ToT theming is awesome. As for Maliboomer... I'm a BIG chicken! ;)
