Whatever you think about safety at various theme parks, the facts speak for themselves.
According to the link, in 2009 there were about 10 reported major accidents involving injuries and deaths at all amusement parks and theme parks. Actually there were only 2 deaths (the monorail and the Firehawk, and the firehawk one was because of a health issue-not the park's fault) in 2009, and many of the reported injuries were park workers and not guests. Compare that to injuries/accidents/deaths from driving, sports, bee stings, vending machines falling on people, shark attacks, and you'll see that amusement parks are very safe.
Most often, amusement park deaths/accidents of guests are due to:
-Health issues of guests
-Guests being stupid
Neither of which amusement parks can control. And while rarely the park makes a mistake, they do a darn good job for being open 365 days a year (in Disney, Universal and Seaworlds cases).
