Question about luggage...

Does anyone here travel with a garment bag? I guess that's considered checked luggage?

We are taking costumes to DW and I thought a garment bag would be better than trying to pack them in a suitcase as they are somewhat elaborate.

Anyone have experience with this type thing, good or bad?

We've checked our garment bag with formalwear when going for a cruise, no problems.

I've also taken it as my carryon when I was headed to Orlando for a job interview. Determined I prefer just ironing my clothes when I get there though, rather than using it as a carryon.
