Question about "linking" reservations...

I will book our first night with our points and another member will call the next day to book the next 4 nights of our stay with their points. The "other" member will ask to have his reservation linked to mine (I will have provided the confirmation number). While this seems easy, I have the gnawing feeling that a new MS rule leaves them unable to link reservations unless we have a 3 way conversation. Is that right or am I dreaming? If I'm awake, is there any alternative to a 3 way conversation? Can I indicate when I make the reservation on day 1 that someone will be linking? Basically, I just don't want to be changing rooms once at Disney because of the 2 separate reservations. Thanks. :3dglasses

We had a problem with "linking" on our most recent trip in Dec. Although MS told me that our reservations were linked, they were not linked when we arrived. We were staying in a THV at SSR and we had the first week booked under our points and the second week reserved under my BIL's points. Luckily, we arrived early and did not have any big plans for the day b/c were there for a few hours trying to straighten things out. We were told that with their new system they are no longer linking reservations they way that they used to. In the end, they transferred the entire reservation into my husband's name and we did not have to switch rooms half way through our stay. I am hoping that they have improved this situation since we were there.

Thanks for responding. I ended up calling MS and and they confirmed there is a new policy that requires a 3 way conversation between both DVC owners and MS when linking reservations. Fortunately, the person I'm renting points from to complete our next trip lives in the next town so we will 3 way call to link at some point between now and the trip. But it's certainly an important fact for all renters to keep in mind when booking stays with different owner points.
