Question about late in the day at water parks.

Several years ago we were at the World in September and found that the last two hours of the day at Blizzard Beach had fairly thin crowds.

We are going in early June this year and I'm wondering if the crowds thin out much at the end of the day in the water parks during the summer?

It would be worth planning to go in the late afternoon if that were the case, but if the crowds are heavy until the close of business we will probably stick with going first thing in the morning.

We went in July of 2005 -- my first experience with summer at WDW. We wound up going to the water parks on 3 of our 5 days. The crowds definitely thin out after about 4:00 in the afternoon. What we discovered was that there were several bus groups that visit the water parks. Often the busses are filled with teens. My guess is that they got to the park around 11:00 and then they were to be back at the bus by 4:00. Starting at about 3:00, you'd start hearing people say "we've gotta get to the bus." We went first thing in the morning, left during the hot part of mid-day, and then returned around 4:00. Worked out great. This was at both TL and BB.

Have fun.

The only tricky part of late afternoon in June is thunderstorms. They have to clear all water and deck areas for at least 20 minutes following any thunder clap or visible lightning flash. It's easy to get caught in a storm.

On the other hand, if the storms are just long enough to make people get tired of waiting, or end by about 5:00 and you can buzz over there, then the park really clears out and you could have the run of the place until closing around 8:00.

We did have one thunderstorm late in the day like that when we went in September a few years ago and the park cleared of guests quite nicely. We had a half hour before close, when they allowed us to go back on the slides, during which we had virtually no waiting. Got quite a work out on the stairs trying to take full advantage.

Thanks for the comments.
