Question About Kadani and Jambo

Thanks for the flames. There were always plenty of open spaces when I went, and I only stayed for a short time.
In any event, it is up to Disney to make sure that their design ensures enough parking for the guests, and is convenient for them.

Kidani wins out over Jambo for us, and I'm having a hard time figuring out why everyone thinks it's so impossible to walk between Jambo and Kidani. We are old, and one of us has really bad knees, yet we have never found the walk between the two halves of the resort to require us to spend the extra time waiting for a shuttle or driving between them. In fact, but the time you walked to your car, drove to the other resort and walked from your car, you would likely have been able to walk between the two with the same amount of time and energy.

Exactly. It's an 8-10 minute walk taking your time. It can be done in 5 minutes easily.

How did Disney not do their part, they have parking at each resort adequate for the need, they have places for guests to park as they check in with signs stating this is temporary parking.

They run a shuttle back and forth between Kidani and Jambo for those wanting to experience both resorts.

:confused3

Wow, really? Your laziness is now "convenience", and it's Disney's fault that you park in a spot clearly marked for guests checking in so you can go to the pool?

Oh, but you only stayed a short time, so that makes it ok. :sad2:

I didn't know that it was Disney's plan to make us "work" while we're on vacation. I had the misperception that I was paying top dollar to make my vacation relaxing. But thanks for letting me know that I am supposed to inconvenience MYSELF so that DISNEY should have an easy time.

Disney did not do its part because it does not provide the facility that the paying customers want. As a business, it is their job to find out what the customers want, and provide it. If their attitude is, "this is what we say you need, so that's what we're doing" they will lose business.
Except, of course, amongst people who think that if Disney is doing it, we MUST go along and not say anything.

Yep, I just know I'd get restless WAITING for the shuttle.

Well you can take any theme park bus back to Jambo so you shouldn't have to wait very much, if at all for a lift back.

In Jan, I'd likely walk over and take a bus back.

There are several issues going on here regarding methods of going to/from Kidani's pool from Jambo.

1) Bus/shuttle wait: it sounds to me like Disney AKL/V has addressed this issue and has a small shuttle van running constantly. I have not witnessed this myself though.

2) Walking: very easy BUT a child who's exhausted themselves after a morning in the parks followed by an afternoon in the pool (and running those stairs to the slide) will be a very slow walker and most likely end up on the shoulders of dad.

3) Driving/parking: Kidani needs to clearly indicate the parking location for those who choose to drive over to use the pool. It's not obvious that one needs to turn in and go down through the parking garage to get to the pool gate. Many Florida-sun-fried brains will see the front entrance to the pool, the short term parking and say to themselves "Oh, parking!" To fix this there needs to be a sign by the entrance to the garage indicating "POOL PARKING THIS WAY --> " and, imho, the Jambo visitors need info in their welcome packets.

To tell Jambo guests they should not drive over is assuming their situation is something you can relate to and handle. Examples: It's not unreasonable for parents with triplets say, aged 4 to want their rental vehicle with proper car seats to drive over. Same goes for the disabled - those buses can be a royal pain for them. Even just an ordinary, healthy, single young person might want their car at the Kidani pool to make it to a dinner reservation right after swimming. Everyone should be allowed to drive over if they so choose. In my case - that walk out to get my car in the Jambo lot and then drive over would take just as long as the walk ;)

Just my 3 cents.

So write a letter to Disney telling them of their shortcoming and let the people looking to park when they check in park in those spaces.

I'm not Disney's unpaid business advisor. Also, it's not a problem to me--unless the parking spot clearly states it is NOT for pool guests, I see no problem. As a poster above states, Disney should mark clearly where guests in cars are supposed to park. It is NOT my job to determine what's best for Disney, and do it at my own inconvenience. It IS up to Disney to determine what's most convenient for ME, and adjust accordingly.

But they already did that and you didn't agree with them. Those parking places are designated for guests checking in to make it more convenient for them, not for guests going to the pool.

When I was there 2 years ago, the signs did not indicate that. Also, there were several Disney vehicles parked there, which were definitely not "guest vehicles." I check again this November.
