Can someone who has ridden the ride in the last 6 weeks let me know if the T-Rex at the end is working properly? I last visited in mid-January and it was not, which was a shame because it's possibly my favorite element of any ride I've ever experienced. I know the off season is when a lot of rides go through maintenance, so I hope it is back up and running by the time I come back in May. TIA

I did a little digging today and saw that it's down through March 4th. Hopefully they're fixing this issue and whatever other issues the ride might have been having :)

Side note, but I'm surprised at how tough it is to find information about changes going on in Universal. I had to do quite a few searches. Meanwhile there's a thread with 240+ posts in the last 2 months about a funnel cake stand being relocated in my home park. And no, I'm not kidding: http://www.kicentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/31707-rivertown-funnel-cake-stand-razed/#entry708312

Seeing as US gets 5 times as many visitors in a year, I thought they'd have a more dedicated following. Maybe they do and they're just good at hiding?

some water rides go down for regularly scheduled maintenance.
UO does not do maintenance on all the water rides at the same time, they leave some open

thegajone- we are at Universal now and I just logged in to find out when JP was opening. (It was still closed today with fencing up, but we could hear testing. ) I found your post. KI is our home park too! (We live about 10 minutes away.) I was just telling my husband today what a get forum kicental is!!

PS - cross your fingers it opens on the 5th!! It's our last day!!!

Most of the time, closures are listed on the park hours page.

Yes that is a great forum! KI certainly has some passionate fans. There's now like a 20-page thread on some dirt being moved around near Banshee, lol. Also one of the members posts articles about defunct Disney attractions (and is starting to write some on defunct KI attractions) that are wonderfully detailed and well-written.

Side note but I ran into Don Helbig, KI's PR manager, at the airport on Tuesday on my way out to San Francisco. He couldn't be more friendly. Couldn't pry any big secrets from him though, lol.

Yes, your friend the T-Rex is working. I just recently got a preferred pass again and the first day it was down due to the refurb, but funny enough as we walked by someone asked about when it would open and an employee said tomorrow. I then turned and asked if I heard correctly, to which she said, "it should be". Emphasizing that it could not. However, the next day it it did open on the 5th so I hope you did get to ride it ePink.

The main differences I noticed since I been there last (it's been years) was that they made it a much more foggy experience, the lighting was a little different from what I remember, and all the skins of the dinosaurs seemed brighter and cleaned. They also moved the position of one of the dinosaurs tails so that it would not dip into the water, that way to prevent it from making a line on it/dirty/mold. And like I said, the T-Rex was working and was awesome as usual.
