Question about Illuminations Cruise

I have done some research on past thread on the cruises, both illuminations and wishes, my question is about the smoke and ash. Do you only get the smoke and ash on the Illuminations cruise IF the wind is blowing in your direction, or you pretty much have some smoke and ash to deal with on every cruise???? any info would help. thanks!

didn't have any smoke problems when i did it, so i suspect only when you're lucky enough to have the wind blowing in your direction
