Question about HRH and room deposit

I reserved a room for 3 nights at HRH back in Nov. 03 for our August 04 trip. I received an ET rate of $134+ tax. I was pretty sure that I was charged one nights rate to secure the ressie even though I never received a confirmation.

Anyway, fast forward to present.... on Friday I faxed over a credit card authorization to pay for the remaining balance due which should have been the remaining 2 nights.

Well my cc is actually a debit card and so I checked my account and noticed that they charged me for 3 nights instead of 2. So I've been going through my bank records to see when the first night's deposit was charged and I can't find it, I also checked my other checking account to see if I just sent a check for the deposit, and it doesn't look like I did that either

So my question is... how could I still have a reservation after all this time, if I never paid the first nights deposit? OR... do they just hold your room with a credit card and not charge you until you get there? Anyone else have this problem?

I can tell you that when I had booked at the HRH in May for a September trip with the ENT rate, they charged my credit card immediately without receiving a confirmation.

Hope you can find the proof you need to show that you already paid one night's stay. Good luck!

Or, of course, maybe they didn't charge your card after all? I know sometimes people get charged one night's deposit and sometimes they don't.

I have had sooo many problems with deposits from HRH! I first booked a room and gave them a credit card. Then when E rates were released, I changed the stay by 1 day! 1 week later, they sent me a check for my deposit? According to them, they refund and then you have to apply a new deposit! Panicky me, I call...they say I have canceled, I rebook and give them the credit card over the phone for 1 nights deposit! 2 weeks ago, we decide to add another nights stay, and the woman says we have a ressie but No Deposit! I start screaming at the lady that I did indeed leave a deposit 3 months ago...she puts me on hold! She comes back on the phone 5 minutes later and says, "accounting had the deposit listed, but it wasn't showing on the computer"! She now assured me...we had a paid deposit! and she apologized!

If you think you have paid the deposit, ask to speak with accounting and they will show proof!

I just talked to Robert in accounting at HRH and apparently they never did charge me for the first nights deposit even though he said they should have. Like I posted earlier, I did go back through my bank records and I could not find where I was ever charged for the first night.

I made the ressie back in Nov. and was under the impression that the first night was already paid for... just glad I had enough in my account to cover it.
