Question about hopping back to the Parks in the afternoon?

I know a lot of people here say in the summer months especially to stay in the parks until lunch or early afternoon and then go back to their resort and swim, nap, relax etc. and come back to the parks in the late afternoon/evening. I am wondering if the parks are actually less busy by then, is it just cooler, thunderstorms are done or are you just refreshed from the break? And I mean just in terms of non-EMH days. Just wondering for our plans. Thanks :flower:

If you take an afternoon break and return to the parks after the parade there is a noticeable difference. princess:

Julie, basically yes to all your questions. The main thing is you will be refreshed and relaxed. The other points you ask about:
The thunderstorms are over: probably
It will be cooler: a little
The parks will be less busy: unlikely but possible

We did this just last week. This was our "plan." We went to the park with the rides/attractions we really wanted to do first thing in the morning. (about 15 minutes before opening) After a swim at out resort and about 4-5 in the afternoon, we went to a different park and went on less popular rides, shopped, and just took our time strolling. I thought the parks seemed much more crowded in the afternoon, but not to the point of not enjoying ourselves. We were so pleased with the amount of things we did in the morning, we were fine with crowds in the afternoon/evening.

When we went the last time I found that we have the most enjoyable day when we took the afternoon break. We went to AK in the morning and did most of the "big" rides and things of that sort and then went back to the room and took a nap and just lounged around for a while. That evening we went over to MGM, ate at 50's Prime Time, did a few rides/attractions and headed back to OKW. We felt MUCH more refreshed that day then any other on our trip where we stayed at the park all day.

When we go back in October that is our plan, to arrive semi-early, do the things we want and then go back to the hotel and enjoy some resort amenities before heading back out for dinner and possibly more rides.

Those are some great suggestions. We tried to do all days when we were there in 2003, but it killed our feet! We were way underprepared. :confused3
