Question about Hojo, Freeway Side

Other than the noise factor, is there any other reason we wouldn't want one of the 2 queen rooms by the freeway? I'm the only one the noise would bother and I can wear earplugs. DH and my 2 DS's could sleep through a firetruck siren going off right next to their ears.... Are the rooms more run down than the others or are they all about the same? Someone once mentioned something about too much light coming in some of the rooms? Which rooms are those? I'm hoping to keep it dark for my little ones on our sleeping in days... :)

I've only stayed on the freeway side so I don't really have anything to compare to but our room was dark and the noise wasn't that bad. The rooms were huge and not in bad condition at all (not an updated hotel with the nice white down comforters and all that but there aren't a lot of those really close to disneyland that I know of). There is an elevator to the upper floors and interior corridors. I didn't have a problem with the room and I can be picky at times (have actually had worse opinions of the Disneyland hotel but that may be because I expect more for the extra cost)! We are planning to stay there on our next trip and look forward to checking out the new water play area.

Thanks! Would prefer to pay less. I don't really care what the view is. We just spent the weekend in a semi-clean Motel 6, so anything would look good compared to that, I guess... ;)

Do you have an Entertainment book? The Entertainment rate for Hojo's is great, and more than pays for the book. You just have to make sure you call the hotel directly to get the rate (I got $79/night for 2 queen beds facing DL!) :cool1:

We have been in freeway side rooms probably 4 times, only once did I experience freeway noise. We were waaaaayyyy in the back corner in the room on the end and it was right next to the freeway. It did keep me awake but we were only there for 1 night so it wasn't that big of a deal. :) The rooms are not smaller on that side, they are comparable to all the other HoJo rooms and I've stayed in bldg 1 (Disney view) and bldg 4 (courtyard). So, unless you are in the very back corner I'd say you'll be fine. :)

The top floor (7th) of building 1 has sky lights on the disney facing side. I would assume also on the freeway side, but I dont know. When you make your ressie, or after, just call reservations and have them note your request for anything other than floor 7.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate it. We plan on using the entertainment rate, I'd rather pay $60 a night though for a not as nice view than the $80 for a Disney view. Would save us $140 total. We're not going til end of next year, but it's fun to start planning early... :) We'll have enough Visa points for tickets and food so we just need to save for hotel and gas to get out there.

You might also want to concider the "oversized double bed" rooms in the pavilion biuldings. They are the same price as the freeway side rooms.

Hey Everybody!

The 7th-floor freeway facing rooms [NQQ3
s] in Building 1 do have skylights- so if you have booked one and do not want the extra light- definitely let us know! We can note that on your reservation and do our best to make sure that you don't get put into one of those rooms! :]

If you are concerned about the freeway noise, our Pavillion Rooms [NDD1's] in Buildings 3, 4, 5 and 6 are great alternatives! The rooms feature oversized double beds, and are about three inches more narrow than a queen sized bed.

I hope this helps! If you have any questions, please let me know, or give our In-House Reservations Team a call! We'd be happy to answer any questions that you might have! :goodvibes

FWIW we've gotten building 1 garden pool (well, only pool, really, now) view rooms with the entertainment rate. During the day if you're napping while people are swimming there are noises of, well, people swimming, but at night it's very very peaceful.

Molly, you mean Bldg. 2? I don't think any rooms in Bldg. 1 would have a view of the garden pool (only pool, really now). ;)

I think the difference for the OP might be that there are 3 different Entertainment Rate levels now. The standard rooms (Pavillion rooms and freeway facing rooms in bldg. 1) are $59, the deluxe rooms (Building 2 Queen/Queen with micro) are $69, and the Premium view rooms in bldg 1 are $79. Personally, I think the $10 difference between standard and deluxe is totally worth the upgrade.

Dangermouse, what are the differences between Standard and Deluxe? Depending on how much we have by the time we are going, I might go for it...

Jenni, we stayed in a Pavilion room in July 08. It was fine for us, had 2 oversized doubles. We were 2 adults and 2 kids and those are the $59 rate rooms. :)

jennilou - The deluxe rooms are all in building 2 and are classified (NQQ2). They all have 2 queens a mini-fridge and micro and overlook the pool area. It's a nice, quiet 4-story building with an elevator. Not all rooms have balconies, so if you want one, you need to request it.

The standard rooms are either the pavillion rooms in buildings 3-6, which have 2 oversized double beds but no microwave. OR, the freeway facing rooms in building 1, which have 2 queens, but I don't believe they have a microwave either.

Hope that helps.
