Question about having 2 contracts

We currently own at BWV, December UY. If we were to buy a BWV resale, how would reservations go? Would this second contract go under our same member number? Would we be able to use both points for the same reservation? Would it be benefitial to have the same UY for both contracts? Also, how would it work if the second contract is at VWL?

Thanks! ;)

If your second contract was the same use year and if the deed has the same names, your 2 contracts will share the same member number with different decimal endings. We bought BWV, added on VWL, then a resale at VB all March use year, and we have one member number with 3 decimal endings.

Bobbi :D

PS. For some reservations, specifically the Members Cruise, I used points from all 3 parts of the contract and borrowing from 2 parts as well.

That's usually the way it is. The actual issue is that IF DVC realizes you already own that use year, they will add it to your account. If they do it as a separate contract number, I've been told they won't change it. So anyone doing a resale of the same use year should make sure DVC is aware you are a member and want the contracts combined. All contracts must be listed EXACTLY the same way with all the same owners.

As long as the two contracts have the same resort, reservations may easily be made using both contracts (MS will assist with the details). If they are different home resorts, only those at BWV may be used for BWV reservations at 11 months (and only VWL points may be used at that resort 11 months ahead). The points may be combined and used at any resort 7 months in advance.

Managing 2 contracts is not a big challenge but be sure to be aware of banking deadlines (especially if the Use Years are different).

Enjoy!

Thanks Dean, you have mentioned that fact, that MS must be aware, before, and I've made it clear to our broker that we already have a contract. I even sent her an e-mail last night telling her that on these latest papers to sign, I come first and DH second, whereas on the others it was the other way. I explained to her that I didn't want to nit-pick but I really wanted to do everything we could to assure that Disney would read that we were the same people buying the same use year! She assured me that she has the forms from the VB resale and she'll do everything the same this time.

Thanks so much for the quick replies! ;) We'll be looking soon for some more points (a small amount), so I wanted to make sure all our bases would be covered.

Now, if the Contemporary is announced anytime soon, we'll have to get ready for a large purchase. ;)

You should also let DVC member admin know about the resale and the fact you want them as one master contract.

I'm going to have to agree with CaliforniaDreaming when saying "if the Contemporary is announced anytime soon, we'll have to get ready for a large purchase"... I too seeing my savings getting a bite taken out of it...
