How do they divide these up?

If I submitted an estimated time of 2 hours, 10 minutes, in which corral would I start (my current proof of time is just under that)? I'm trying to decide if I should go ahead and submit my current proof of time (which was a tad slow for me), or try to better it. If I can get it under two hours, would I move up a corral?

I just don't want to be too far back in the pack. I know I'm not going to be in the front (don't want to be either).

Thanks!

Submit what you have and then if you have an improved time, you can take that to the expo for a corral improvement.

The timing is not to be feared. If you have your pace, you should be fine with even time to step off for character photo ops with your current ability. Don't wait too long if you decide to wait for an improved time. The half registraton is the event that closes first.

i've actually already registered for the half (i didn't want it to sell out before my 10k last saturday). i just need to send my proof-of-time into them.

i'm more wanting to make sure i'm in a decent corral to start. i always seem to get stuck in the middle of slower people. i am planning to enjoy this race--and the characters/sights. yes, i want to finish strong, but not at the expense of missing the experience (if that makes sense).

It kinda ends up being a crap shoot. Esp in January when the Goofy people are placed ahead of some that are faster than them. I was in the last corral for the Half with a proof of time of 2:45, I have previously been in the second to last corral. I took my proof to them to move up and was told I needed a time of 2:2o to move up one???? DIdn't make much sense. So, just a heads up - don't worry too much, you will most likely come across people placed in your corral that are much slower than you and most Disney races are pretty "busy" with people all over.

FYI, I was place in the second corral for Princess out of 5 corrals, go figure. NOt sure about anyone else, but I did like the start of the Princess better. Each corral started on its own and they started every 7 minutes and seemed to help with the "crowded" feeling.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but no matter what corral you end up in, you're going to be surrounded by slower people. Not only is there a fairly wide pace range for each corral, you also have people sneaking into corrals and people intentionally running slower than their pace time around you as well. Plus, given the way the Disney course is laid out, it's crowded and quite narrow in several places close to the start, making leaving your corral and gliding right into your ideal pace difficult in the base case.

As has been said, this isn't really a race for busting out a PR. It's more a leisurely run to enjoy all the sights and sounds that Disney and your fellow runners have to offer. I ran my half more than half an hour slower than what I turned in for a pace time (yes, making me one of the slower people), and it was the best decision I could have made. Going slower gave me a better opportunity to look around, talk to people, high five the crowds and characters, and generally have a lot of fun. Running at PR pace isn't fun, it's work, and this race is all about fun. :)

This year's Half was my first half ever, and I thought it was pretty well organized. A lot of waiting though, both at the holding area and then at the corrals. I was near the beginning of corral B (right near the proposal) and right before the start they dropped the rope and we all moved up. I did not think it was that congested, everyone seemed to move pretty well. It did begin to thin out a bit after the first few miles, but still there were always people around.

Much more organized than the ToT 13K. There were no corral barriers, just some signs indicating pace. So that was crowded. One of those instances when the gun goes off and you just stand there. I was in the neighborhood of 50 yards further back from the start at the ToT compared to the Half, yet I was at the start line a bit over a minute in the Half compared to 9 minutes for the ToT. We were almost walking to the start.

But still, this is a race for fun.

For the princess half this year the cutoff was 3:00 to get into C, and 2:45 for B.. but I know the January half has different criteria

My submitted proof of time for the past 2 Disney Halves has been 2:06. Last year, I was in Corral B, and this year I was in Corral C.

So, I'd say you are likely going to be assigned to Corral B or C with your 2:10 time.
