Question about Graduation Parties

We give $50 to close friends, and $100 to relatives when we are invited as a family.
DD will be going to several grad parties with friends, just stopping by, then nothing.

DH and I were having a discussion similar to this the other night. My nephew graduated yesterday and is having a big party tomrrow night. I said we should give him $100, but DH thinks that is too much and we should do $50 or at the most $75. I guess I will make a final decision tomorrow afternoon when I write the check.

DD was invited to a LOT of parties, which she and her friends that went didn't take gifts. Special friends of hers got gift cards of $25 and I made a lot of light bulbs with 20 or 25 folded ones with a note "may your future be bright" on a tag tied around it. That was in 2014! This year I did a jar with 40 ones tied like diplomas in a jar with a grad hat.

OP again. Wow I was going to give 50 bucks and was worried that wasn't enough. Guess that isn't the expectation afterall. Maybe I will back it down to 40 since I have several parties to go to...

This is more on league with what I gave and got when I graduated in 2011. It definitely depends where you live I think!
