My husband and I are new to the DVC(purchased last month) and also new to the game of golf. We were wondering if there was a cost for the driving ranges at the courses and what it was? Also another question, do they rent clubs for the range and the cost?

Thanks for the help!

Range balls are $7.00 per basket (probably about 20 to 30 balls. They do rent clubs but the pricing structure is for a round of golf and not for the range use. You may be able to get a rental for just the range, but it is not listed on the Disney golf web site (www.disneygolf.com). If you do play or take up the game so you play a couple of times when you are at WDW, make sure that you buy the DVC Golf Membership. For $50.00 for a year membership, you get nicely discounted golf for most of the year. In the summer months, the AP discount and the twilight rates can be very competitive with the DVC membership, but during the other seasons, the discount is really amazing. DW and I usually plan our trips so we can use the golf membership and our Annual Passes for two trips. We also travel with other golfers most of the time when we go down, and with the membership, you can get an entire foursome on the courses for the reduced greens fees. Our last DVC Golf Membership had 32 rounds on it and each round saved us or our guests $50.00 or more per round. As you can see the Membership was worth the $50.00 fee.

I know that DH has used the driving range at Osprey Ridge, and only paid for the range balls. However, he'd played there on a previous day, so I wouldn't be surprised if they recognized him. He brought his own clubs, so I don't know about renting clubs.
PS-he just called and it turns out he's done this at every course, not just Osprey Ridge.

Rather than spending a small fortune for using the range and $65 club rental why not play 9 holes at Oak Trail, it is the perfect beginner course and can now be used with the Waterparks and More options. A partial club set there is $15!

Bob, what do you mean you can use the Waterpark and more option - sorry I don't play golf and barely understand all the fees invilved but my dh and two sons play. I want to tell them this if you can explain it to me like a child - lol. Or if you can direct me to where it is published, I will read it or have my dh read it.

Can they just bring their golf clubs and play using their ticket? or Pay to rent golf clubs only if they do not have them and again no fee for playing golf?

TIA.

Oak Trail is a 9 hole family friendly (read: easier) course that WDW just added to the Plus options (waterparks and more). This would allow you to have "free" greens fees $42 value(admission) by using a waterpark/PI/Disney Quest option. Then you could golf 9 holes (18 are a "normal" course). Then the only cost you would have would be clubs if you don't bring your own. Golf clubs are getting to be an issue as they count as a checked bag, which could cost you $25 or more from the airline. Oak trail lets you rent a partial set of clubs for $15, which is very reasonable.
The "real" courses charge $65 for club rentals if you don't bring your own and up to $159 for greens fees...ouch. I have the DVC golf membership which can bring greens fees down to $35 at times!!

Thank yo Bob -

You did a great Job and I understand completely :)

I know some terminology from listening the them (and friends all the time). He's dying for me to take lessons. I think this is great especially when we go down during the summer and they might not want to play 18 holes because of the heat. I will tell my husband. I am sure he would want to play it if it's not too easy - that I have no idea and let him worry about it.

Again - thank you and it's a nice option with the plusses passes.
