question about general public discount codes

I have a question about the general public discount codes. If I make a reservation and a special offer is released at a later date for my dates, can I call and get the discount applied, or will I be locked into the rate I booked it at? I am also wondering how this would work if free dining was the special. Could I get it added?

I am just trying to decide the best time to make a reservation. I want to do it as soon as possible to make sure I get the resort I want, but I also would like to take advantage of any special offers that may come up.

Yes you can add the discount even if you already booked. You can change anything up to 45 days before your stay.

If you make a reservation and then discounts come out, you can always apply the discount to it afterwards. Sometimes they have room-only discounts, free dining and free gift card offers at the same time over the same time period. You can only use 1 discount on one reservation so it's good to know what everything would cost without any discounts and then see what works best for your family with each scenario.

We've done that twice. Once we went from a discounted room (marathon weekend) to free quick-service dining; and the other time we went from a standard vacation (no discounts) to free basic dining.

In terms of the best time to go, I would choose the time that works best for your family and then if a dicsount comes out near your ressie you could always move it by a few days.

thanks for the info. We are looking at a trip in either May or September 2012. I realize that I can't make reservations until later in the year, but I want to get them in as soon as possible. If I book something in May but a good deal comes out in Sept., can I change the entire reservation?

Edit: Nevermind. I see in Sirenstorm's reply that I can change anything up tp 45 days prior to the reservation.

Book the room only (I believe the deposit is $200) as soon as you are able then add the package, etc. later so you can be sure to get the room and dates you want. If a discount comes out later then you can easily apply it to your current reservation.

Yes, you can add a discount, however, just because you have a ressie does not mean that there will be availability at the resort you are booked or for that room category etc. under that discount or pin code. There must be availability for you to apply it to your existing ressie or you will need to make changes to where there is availability.
