Question about GAD and ID's.

I am in a bit of a panic right now because we are supposed to be leaving for Disney tomorrow morning. I went to our lisence branch today to get my kids ID's so they could get in w/ the GAD passes. Evidently they changed the way they do ID's now and they mail them in 7 days. They did not "advertise" this. Only let people with soon to expire ID's know by mail. Now we leave to morrow and we have no ID's. Is there anything I can do? I am flipping out. I have 3 kids with no ID's and am flipping out. I was so shocked and upset at the lisence branch that I started crying. LOL But seriously, I cant afford the extra. We didnt budget for it. Will they still let my kids in?

What form of id did you have to show at the license branch to get their id cards? Maybe that would work with Disney.

, maybe that will work since it should show her birthday and age?. I know Disney was specific in what was required, but maybe they will make an exception. How about you taking along the paper work from your DMV showing that you have applied for their ID's and that it will be mailed to you instead of receiving them on the same date? Not sure these will work, but you can try.....

Have you tried calling them directly to see if they can offer an alternative?

I am willing to bet that if you have 2 B C's and the insurance card that they will accept that for the 3 kids.

Valid ID is one of the following: valid Government Issued Passport, valid Driver’s License including a photo, or valid Government Issued Photo ID. For children under 18 who do not have any of the previous listed IDs, a copy of a Birth Certificate is acceptable. School IDs or children security IDs are not deemed Government-Issued Photo IDs and will not be accepted.

The birth certificates will be good for the two that you have, but unfortunately the insurance card is almost certainly a no go. If she was born locally you might want to check with the hospital or the government agency that issues birth certificates to see if you can get a new copy today.

Otherwise, go with what you have and maybe you'll get a nice cast member that accepts the insurance card, but don't plan on that happening.

The court building can get you a certified copy of the birth certificate and this is the ONLY form of ID that can be used for a child under 18. I would call immediately and see if they will get you a copy today. Please remember that it will cost you to get an expidited birth certificate, so you may want to weigh the costs of the two.

I don't know where you live but you should be able to go to your vital records section of your county clerk's office (in the county where your child was born) and get a copy of her birth certificate today.

I got my daughter's on the way to the airport so she could be a lap child, it took me about 10 minutes total and cost the $18 fee.

At least you have 2 of the birth certificates, so worse case scenario you only have one child without ID

We turned in our vouchers for GAD 3 weeks ago at Guest Services & I don't remember them asking for any ID....either my mind is foggy in my post-WDW depression, or they never asked! Is that possible? That you mght not even need the ID?

Here in Maryland you go to the Division of Vital Records, part of the State Department of Health and Human Services, to get certified copies of birth certificates.

I would say go to the children's school and get a copy but since you said you are leaving in the morning that would not be likely to happen. Here, you have to go to the state capital for the state vital statistics to get the birth certificate.

We are at a hotel in GA so I have what I have and I can only hope that someone is feeling generous that day. I know I shouldnt have waited so long. I went the afternoon before we left. As far as I knew there wouldnt be a problem except for the youngest. I have a credit card sized and like 2 other copies of hers and I have no idea where they are.

In my dream world the cast member will say, Oh gee, that's just fine. LOL What is worse we were several hours on the road and our exchange student (who is the reason for this trip - all kids need to esperience Disney) thought he left his passport. I about cried. LOL But he has it.

Interesting... Did you turn the GADs in for tickets or fastpasses?

We went Tuesday and they accepted her Insurance card. I explained what happened at the BMV and told her I brought what I had. I was so thrilled that she accepted it. We had a wonderful time and the kids loved it.

That is wonderful! I know whenever something like this happens to me I am thankful and then resolve to be better organized...which lasts for a period of time and then I lapse.
