Question about flight prices for Thanksgiving

We are thinking of planning a trip for 2006 over Thanksgiving. The only thing that worries me is how expensive the flights will be. I am wondering if people can post me their cost of flights from the Boston/Manchester/Providence area, leaving the friday or saturday before thanksgiving and returning the day after thanksgiving.

To get a comparison, I have looked them up now for this year and JetBlue doesnt look too bad for this time. However Southwest is unavailable for any of the better rates. I am wondering what kind of rates people got.

Ridiculous? I was looking at flying to Orlando the Friday before Thanksgiving for a long weekend - it's around $200 one way. Okay, fine, relatively ridiculous :)
In fact, just yesterday I was researching prices for this year for a coworker. Leaving Boston on the 19th is, yes, around $200. Flying back ON Thanksgiving is $79. All prices pre-tax, of course.
As for Southwest (and you might want to check Alllegiant out of Portsmouth to Sanford, www.allegiantair.com), as SOON as Southwest releases its rates for that part of November 2006 - which you can see by watching this board - JUMP on them! I didn't check, but the lowest rates are good, right, it's just that there's no availability?
Also, consider two one-way flights. Both Song and JetBlue (and Southwest) base their ticket pricing on one-way trips; you DON'T need to purchase round-trip tickets to get the best rates.

I got a great Ding with SW, but my flight time is the day after Thanksgiving. I got $29 each way (coming home on 12/3). After taxes and fees the rate is $74 per person round trip. I am not sure if there were dings a few days earlier to meet your needs. I was very happy to get this ding because people on the boards didnt think that they would be available because it is a busy time for travel. I was just SOOO happy to get these prices especially with the price of gas now. :dog:

I think you need to book them as soon as they open up, 331 days in advance to get a good rate.

I'd try Song, they usually have fares $79 each way.

I am leaving thanksgiving day going for the weekend and for 79.00 one way on air tran, actually got five

I'm leaving from NY, but the prices are usually pretty similar. I booked in January we are leaving Thanksgiving Day. We are paying $54 each way on Spirit, my sister is paying $59 each way on Song. I was going to wait for JetBlue to release their fares. I'm glad I didn't, the day they went on sale they were over $100 each way.

I booked Song to bring DS home from Orlando for Thanksgiving. 215.40 rt with taxes and fees. I could not get anything on Southwest for under 400 r/t and Jetblue wasn't much better. Independence was close, but you had the connection at IAD, Song was a direct flight.

on Thanksgiving day, returning Nov. 30th on US Airways for $160 each (including taxes). I booked them in September. I have been keeping an eye and they haven't gone up much. They fluctuate up and down daily but the travel times are what I was watching.

HI,
We are flying out of TF green on Sunday the 20 until the 28th and we are paying 200.00 each round trip on Southwest. I was told by a number of people that we got a pretty good price for a holiday week. Our flight down was 79.00 but the return flight was expensive and we had to come back on Monday. You may also want to check out Worcester Airport as Allegiant will begin flying out of here in December. I'd say if you think you get a good price book it, if you can get it refunded if you find a cheaper price. Good Luck!

Flying on the holiday, either way, is going to be cheap. It's the other leg that can fluctuate alot. I'm impressed with the $80 RT someone got. I paid $143 on Song flying down on T'Day and coming back 12/3, RT, non-stop and thought I had a good deal. Friends decided to join us a week after I purchased our tickets (sometime in April I think) and ended up paying around $200 RT. I never knew about the 331 days thing and haven't used the "Ding" but I will .... there's always another trip in the making...

DH and I are flying out of MHT 11/23 returning 11/30 (Wednesday to Wednesday) for $140/person. I ordered my tickets the day Southwest began selling tickets over the Thanksgiving holiday. I also got a DING fare to lower my return flight. I did notice that the flight down booked VERY quickly (within hours) but there are still lots of good deals for the 30th.
