Question about expiration date of DVC points

Hi everyone, we are looking at renting some points from a friend and the points expire on Sept. 30. If we check in on Sept. 28, would we be able to use the points thru Oct. 8? I'm not sure how that works since the points expire on Sept. 30...just hoping that since we would be checking in before that date, that it would be okay. Any advice? Thanks so much!!!

No. The points have to be used for a reservation with a check-out date no later than 10/1.

In DVC terms, I am guessing these points have an October '11 Use Year. That means the last night they can be used to book is 9/30/11.

However, if these points were not borrowed from a future year nor banked from a past year, they could be banked BUT MUST BE DONE BY 5/31/11.

So if you want to use these points for any nights after 9/30/11, the owner must bank them into their 2012 Use Year this month. Points already banked or borrowed cannot be banked.
