Question about DVC Incentive at startup

Hi all

I had a question about the incentive. When we signed up (December 2010), we were offered at $500 Disney gift card or a gift basket. We thought it was a no brainer situation and decided to go with the gift card. We were excited it was the Disney card instead of the Visa pre-paid card so we knew we couldn't use it until our trip in October. We were also told we would get this with a certain point amount

We finally got all of our paperwork out of the way, and finally closed in February. (long story and several issues). Our sales rep said we should have our card end of May early June. Both have come and gone and no gift card. I have emailed and called the rep and never received a call back.

Today, I escalate. I'm a patient person but 3 weeks of no calls backs is past my limit. I speak to someone in the quality department who states " umm we haven't offered the Disney gift card in years and wow, you shouldn't have been offered anything really." At this point, I'm frustrated but still calm and polite. She tells me that my sales rep is in the office and will have her call me back. Gee, how nice.

About an hour later I get a call from someone who is picking up my sales rep messages as she is out of the office , odd, and heard my message today. I asked if she heard any of my other messages but quickly moved into the reason of my call. She looked into the notes of my account and see's how I was promised everything but doesn't see why nothing was put into play and not sure if she can really do anything at this point.

Now that you have everything...am I just to suck it up and deal with it or do i keep escalating it? This is something I was promised and was part of the agreement. I'm not really sure what to do at this point. I have been calm and polite and even apologized when i felt like I might have been coming across as rude but I am really frustrated as that was money that was going to our spending funds and now its not. I know its something that I should never count on (kinda like a bonus thing at work) but, still, I'm frustrated.

thanks for hearing me out. Any advice is welcome. Any comments, I'm welcome to those as well. I guess if Im in need of a wake up call so be it.

Thanks all
Marie

Call the sales center and ask to speak to a manager. If that doesn't get the job done, contact the DVC Satisfaction Team and ask that your situation be addressed by Jim Lewis DVD President.

I might even ask them for the fax number so you can send them a copy of your contract which shows the incentive you were offered. It will be listed in there and that is all it should take to get things going.

Good luck!

Thank you for your help. I am waiting a call back from management. I'll post again again.

I agree with the approach the others have suggested, but it may be helpful to know what the next step should be if that doesn't work.

In Florida, the state agency that regulates the timeshare industry is the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, Timeshare Division. You can find them on MyFlorida.com or just Google Florida Timeshare Regulation.

If you were victimized by fraudulent sales practices (or just sloppiness, as seems more likely), I would not hesitate to file a complaint with DBPR. It won't cost you anything.

If the promises made are in the notes from your sale and/or in your contract info, you shouldn't have any problem getting this resolved. But if you do, it's good to know that DVC is not the only place you can go for help.

And when you talk to that manager, I'd certainly request a new guide -- and not the one who was answering messages but couldn't help. They were just trying to cover the other timeshare salesperson's backside.

No, if it's in your paperwork, it's to be counted on.

When we bought in Spring 2009, they were offering the Disney giftcards that could then be used towards your down payment. This was in our paperwork, and they even had a spot where you signed if you were putting it towards the payment or getting the GC for other use.

So it should be in there.
