Question about Dl park admission please

Hello,


To the best of my knowledge, Dl. does not offer any discounts for handicapped children, correct? I am wondering, for my 8 y/o niece, is confined to a wheelchair. She has Cerebral Palsy. She cannot walk, talk nor take food by mouth. She seems to be a pretty happy child though, thank god, in her own way. She loves Mickey Mouse Playhouse and likes to roll about on the floor, while watching, especially listening to Mickey and his friends adventures on t.v. Her vision is not so good, but her hearing is.

Kristine: I have not heard of any such discounts. Sorry. Just a question--has your niece done "Make a Wish"? I know it's not as organized as at WDW but they do Make-A-Wish trips to DL too.

Thank you for your reply. To the best of my knowledge, she has not. I met a family last year, at Dl. who have a young son, that reminded me so much of my niece. I struck up a conversation with them, and they told me about Make A Wish. I have not contacted the group, as of yet. My sister and her family are planning a trip in Sept. for my nephews birthday, and minus possibly my oldest niece, she is 21 y/o, her entire family is planning on going. I might be able to go too, partly to help,and partly because I love Dl. Am not sure though,at this time, if I will be able to do so, out of job concerns.

DL is a bit harder to do in a wheelchair than WDW, as it was built before us wheelies were really considered. Because of this, a lot of the rides require you to board at the exit (usually after waiting off to one side for a while). I'd suggest you swing by Guest Relations before starting your day, to pick up the guidebook for guests with disabilities. This will tell you where all of the accessible entrances are, and whether she will be able to remain in her wheelchair, or will have to transfer.

Hi and to disABILITIES!

Although the greater part of this Forum deals with WDW, we also discuss DisneyLand.

If you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. One of the top items is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information. I would suggest looking at Post #6 which deals with the Guest Assistance Card (GAC), where both DL and WDW generally use the same procedures. Also, Post #14 deals wih Disneyland, and includes several hand links including to the DL Guidebook for Guests with Disabilities.

There is no discount for either a disabled person or their attendants. However, with very few exceptions a person in a wheelchair is able to do an attraction in the chair or, if able with assistance, transfer to a ride vehicle. The only restrictions are that they cannot be a safety hazrd and that even if requested a Cast Member is not permitted to make physical contact with the Guest (but may hold or push a chair).

That is an older thread that I posted on and has my list of rides and how disabled guests can access the rides. I did not include tea cups, maliboomer and Mullholland madness as I don't know about them irdes as far as current status on access.

Some things have changed over the years like Pooh is mianstreamed now as is Bobsleds. Alice had the exit on the west side and now wheelchairs enter on the west instead of the east. Lots of changes.

If you need anything pm me or ask on here or Disneyland board. If you need in park help I can arrange that for free if you need me but I think you can do this by yourself if you read the above guide of mine. Jumbled but helpful, note to self to not post when sleepy, lol.
