I am wondering if you can return purchases (on Disney property) to a different store on property? Or do you have to return it to the exact store where you bought the item from?

My reason for asking is that we won't be spending as much time in the parks/on property as usual. So I want to let my kids grab things as they see them (you never know if you'll see them anywhere else).

We will only spending one day per park and half days at downtown Disney, both water parks and Disney quest. Usually we wait until the end of the trip and buy what they love, versus impulse buying as we go. But I won't be able to go back into the parks so this is not an option this trip.

Thanks for any help you can give.

So long as you save your receipts, you can return the items to any Disney store on property.

I would also assume that the items need to be un-opened or un-used (unless it is the case of a broken item return/exchange)

Have fun pixiedust:

At DTD there are non-Disney owned stores so most likely you'll only be able to return their items to the specific store.

If it is purchased at a Disney owned store you can return it with a receipt at any Disney store.

Also, same goes for some of the stores in World Showcase. They are also individually owned and items can't be returned anywhere but there. I know the store in Japan is like this and I'm assuming the other ones are as well!

If they're Disney-owned shops, yes. For example, I bought a shirt at World of Disney at DTD. When I got back to CSR and tried it on, it didn't fit. I returned it to Panchito's gift shop at CSR with my receipt. It wasn't a problem!

This is true even when it is standard WDW merchandise. I bought a WDW poncho in Mexico because it looked like it was going to rain, and the rain did not start until a few countries later. When I pulled out the poncho I discovered it was defective as it was missing some snaps on one side. I tried to exchange it for a non-defective one in the country we were in which had them sitting right on the counter, and was told that was not possible and they only way I could exchange it for a non-defective one in WS was to walk all the way back to Mexico to do it...which I wasn't about to do in the rain with a defective poncho! (I found it quite annoying as they clearly could have just switched them out and just marked it as one of their own stock being defective).

Thanks for the info. Hopefully we won't run into this problem. But I like to know my options.
