There is only announced tags departures on Alaska cruises.

They also announced by tags getting off the ship in San Diego.

When DCL ported in San Pedro, they also called luggage tags for debarkation. At least they did on the 3 different cruises we debarked in San Pedro.

When we ported in San Pedro they didn't call by tags.

Staff has never touched our bags at breakfast. They point out the area to put our things, but no one has ever touched anything or piled anything. It's just a sea of upright rollerbags that we've seen.

Not everyone has signatures turned on, and you can't see them on mobile even if you want to. People aren't nitpicking, they are giving good information about where they call you off.

I just wanted to add info. Often people read threads for general information. If you see how many views many threads have as compared to posters, it feels that there must be hundreds of lurkers for every poster!!

Your statement about Alaska seemed a bit ambiguous to me and since San Diego is a port that DCL is at so rarely, I thought it would be helpful for others wondering how this works.

They have also announced tags in Galveston. Perhaps as the mentioned ports are not Disney dedicated, they need to control debarkation more carefully than at Port Canaveral.

If they need to announce tags for departure, they'll put a notification in the Navigator, as well as the show the night before, and cruise director announcements. Their default state is no announced debarkation is done, any change and they'd let you know.

It's not so much the being "Disney dedicated" but most of the other ports have smaller terminals/baggage claim areas. They do the announcing to coincide with the bags available. As the bags get picked up from the earliest tag groups, they use the space for another group.

That was what I meant. Disney's Port Canaveral terminal has everything just the way they want it, and they can do luggage is the way that seems best to them. In other port cities, allowance may have to be made, some more than others.

You will be assigned a breakfast time based on whether you are first or second seating for dinner. If you have the first seating, then your assigned breakfast time will be around 6:45 to 7:00. Late seating has a breakfast time around 8:00. They want everyone off the ship by 9:00am. You can always skip breakfast or grab something from Cabanas. Cabanas has limited hours for breakfast on the last morning.

If you want to do express walk off, then yes, you would need to be ready to leave the ship at 7:00am. If you have early seating, then yes, you need to have everything ready by 7:00am. I believe they want everyone out of the staterooms by around 8:00am.

We love eating at Cabanas on debarkation day, for a lot of reasons expressed by other posters.

We have found a sweet spot for getting off, about 8:15 a.m. The first seating has cleared out as much as it can, and the second seating people are still having breakfast. They will be departing soon, so we usually finish eating about 8 and head off the ship.

The alternative is to stay in Cabanas until almost 9, then head down. However, there will be lines. They say they want you off the ship by 9, but that has recently seemed a "whatever" because customs is so understaffed and slow, and the lines back up from there into the ship. Handle it, go with the flow, and enjoy an extended look at the atrium.

Usually the same way I feel on every cruise when the muster drill is delayed because someone either doesn't show up or does't shut up. Happens just about every cruise. Kinda like my flying 1 row in front of a crying baby. I'm just THAT lucky.

Our 2 were out of Galveston but maybe it's changed since 2013. Appreciate the responses and feel better knowing we didn't break any sort of rules. Will look for instructions on the last day and if none then depart as we did on the second Disney cruise.

I would point out that the reason they want people off the vessel by 0900 and out of your stateroom at 0800 is that the CM's have a lot of work to do to get the vessel public areas clean, organized and ready for the next group of passengers.

As a courtesy to the CM's, I would suggest not hanging to late! As pointed out by previous posters, there isn't anything to do!

While probably not practical at all, I actually would prefer it if they didn't start boarding the new passengers until a few hours later if it meant you didn't have to be out of your room and off the ship so early. I'd glady trade a couple of hours at the very start of the cruise for a couple more at the end. Everything is too rushed and hectic that last morning. Would really be a better ending to the crusie if the last morning could be a little more liesurely and relaxed.
