Question about direct sale..

Is that still the same since they changed the rules and can make any points any UY they want?
I was wondering that too. When I asked a guide a couple of weeks ago about availability of a specific UY for a sold-out resort, he said "It doesn't matter, we can make them whatever use year you need"

They can change UY but they still have to have points I the other UY to change. For example, if I wanted a Aug UY, they can only change a Sept October Dec UY to that UY since those are the only ones who could still have 2020 points.

If All they had was March, April and June , those can’t be changed because those are already in their 2021 UY.

Why can’t they sell me 100 SSR points with a February use year, and just give me the 100 points I’m due for 2021?

Asking to understand.

They can and that's all you would get anyways. The issue that can happen is when it is a UY that is still in the 2020 UY and they need to have 2020 points with the contract. Those contracts would require DVC to have 2020 points with them as that is their current UY.

Thank you all! My guide is out of the office until the 9th. When he gets back I think I am going to ask for August or October UY with 2020 points so I can bank them for next year. I don't believe we would travel this year even if we could find something since we just got back. Would I expect to pay full dues for 2020 points? I am assuming I would have to pay full dues for 2021 points.

Shoot---- Didn't mean to double post this.

When we bought last week, our rep said current dues will be prorated.

No dues on 2020 points and prorated on 2021 is what we were just told during our purchase

Just putting it out there, I think the recent increase to 150 minimum really depleted their inventory. I just added on 25 points today and although they found them for me this morning at VGF, last night the only contracts available with a Dec UY were AKL and RIV (which I found SUPER surprising since it was such a small contract). So maybe the issue is just that they don't have anything that is still in a 2020 UY to give you anywhere right now at the # of points you want.

Yikes! Was thinking of adding around 75 points at the Polynesian Villas through Disney and one of the selling points was the ability to also receive 2020 UY points with no maintenance fees attached. I guess I will see what is available when we talk to our guide.

It's my understanding that current DVC owners can add as little as 50 points.

We are DVC owners at BWV and AKV, and are looking into buying direct but only 100 points because that's all we want.

But dont the "Direct Perks" only apply if you have the minimum direct points purchased before rule changes? Even if you are a re-sale member already?

Yes. You must have accumulated at least 125 points via direct purchase prior to the change. Now, you must accumulate 150 points, all through direct purchase.
