Question about dining plan...

Where have you all heard that sharing is not allowed??

I am going to be really annoyed if that is true!!

When I booked my tickets I was told that I COULD treat my parents to HDDR with MY TS credits if I wanted to .. NOW they're saying I CAN'T?????

They really won't allow you to share??
This will mess up our whole trip wrt our meals... we're going to be there in a few hours!
There's no way we can eat all that food, and we planned accordingly, having some extra TS meals because of sharing.

At this point I think it is all hear-say. I wouldn't panic. You might find that you are able to share a meal or your TS's. Let us know how it goes! Enjoy your trip.

Here is the scenario:

Due to the HS bands schedule it will be difficult for me and Majorette Mom 2 to fit in a sit down at every park on every day. Since our four kids wanted to eat at LeCellier with us I thought it would be great and an easy way to use 4 of our table service credits up. Much easier then trying to fit in 2 more meals on two 1/2 day park touring days. The kids are not in our room because they are going with the band so they are not on the dining plan. Will I able to present my card which I assume will have 2A listed on it to pay for 6 meals? At that point in time we will have 8 table service credits remaining between the two of us.

If not I have a DDE dining card that I can use but then I will have to refigure and use the other two table service credits. I would never let the table service credits go to waste, I’ll find a way to use them at a table service restaurant.

I think a few of us are getting confused by the word share. I would not consider the scenario I laid out to be sharing. Sharing to me is sitting down with my daughter and using one table service credit for the two of us. I don't see a problem with that either mind you because without the dining plan we have done that many times.

I think that we just have to wait and see when people start coming back from using the plan. We went the first week of the 'free' dining plan and had no problems. There had been reports of various things happening and I believe they were isolated incidences. We did find that some of the CM's interpreted the plan differently, when we used the CS for breakfast. However, we never had an issue, to speak of. For instance, my ds got a muffin & a side of bacon w/juice, one CM said fine and he was charged his one CS. The next day, they charged him for the side of bacon. We went to the front desk and it was corrected. The dining manager told us that there is some flexibility with the way things are rung up and when a child (even though he was an 'adult')gets only a couple of things.

People have come back saying there was NO sharing at Sci-Fi & CRT. Also one party was not allowed pay for an extra person on their dining plan. I have spoken to two managers a Guest Services and both of them have said that sharing is not allowed. If you are sitting at the table and have the dining plan you have to USE a credit for that meal. repeat after me. "NO I'm not on their dining plan. I'll be paying cash for my meal. I just want a drink thanks. Oh yeah and can I have an extra couple of plates for DD(2), she doesn't like her food to be touching so we find it easier to use two plates Thanks"

I can't imagine that they would want to sit there running all those cards through the machines for each person dining. And what about the counter service establishments, that would be a real nightmare.

I got the dining plan so we could eat at all these places we never would have been able to. DD (5) doesnt eat enough a day to warrent $11 and if she and I cannot share at some places I also will cancel a couple of ADR's. (I was really looking forward to Yatchsman :badpc: ) We would have stuck with CS the whole vacation as she will never eat through $77 of food. (I am excited if she chokes down a chick nugget or 5 pieces of steak!) The politicains have their loopholes, why cant all the rest of us?

You can thank all the people who milked the dining plan for everything they could, knowing full well that they were not using it as designed (justify in your mind all you want, you were wrong). As is the case with most things, the majority pay for the actions of the minority.

all I know is that when I booked my package THEY told ME that I COULD use my credits to pay for HDDR for my parents, NOW people are saying that NO you can't??

That irritates me.

I would call and ask again. There don't seem to be too many posts says this is what happening but enough to let me know at least that it is the way it's going to be if not now then soon.

And get a guarantee in writing, before you rely on it being true. Fould should not rely on any aspect of any program that is not guaranteed in writing, and not subject to change.

I'm getting information overload now. Can someone clarify the credit system if 1 party is staying in 2 rooms? We have 3 adults in one room, and 2 adults and 1 child in the other. There will be some days that we will have my DGD with us while her parents go out alone. She will not bew on our room key. Does this mean that I need to pay OOP for her food? I thought that I understood tht all of the credits were loaded together, so that individual members of the party could go their separate ways. It probably will not be too much of a problem, because we are the group (okay, I am the planner of the group) who is way over the TS credits allowed. We were not planning to use the little ones credits to pay for our meals, but I would like to use them as I see fit, and not in the order that we eat our meals.

From the MYW Dining Brochure:

Use your meals and snacks in any order and in any amount throughout your package stay until your total is depleted

i added the bolding, but the "rule" seems pretty clear to me.

Oddly unspecific, if you know what I mean...

Yea but they can change that anytime they want to. I'm just going to ask for a seperate check for myself or DH or DS as necessary before they say anything and if they say NO it will be fixed at the hotel THey will put whoevers meal on a different check to that it is easier to fix.

It's amazing what different answers you get each time you talk to a CM. One say "yes you can share at non-buffet restaurants" another says "no, you can't share on the dining plan".

Yesterday, I was told that I can share DH's meals at ala carte (ie not all you can eat) restaurants unless you had a special dinner plan like with the Fantasmic or CP.

I think everyone has had good suggestions so far. One thing I am doing is arranging my credits using the excel file someone provided using the 2 scenarios....one, being with sharing, one being without. That way, I can cancel any TS meals easily after we get there if they don't allow us to share.

I have been married and sharing my husband's meals for 21 years now and I don't EVER have a problem at any local restaurant or while I am travelling, with any restaurant saying we can't share. I eat very little and by sharing my husband gets to get dessert without being stuffed.

I don't think Disney restaurants will have a problem with your sharing a meal at the ala carte restaurants. I always tip as if I ate a full-priced meal and we usually inform the server that they will be given this extra. We've even had servers provide extra service (ie like giving free non-alcoholic beverages) and then we tip accordingly too. Usually, servers try to accommodate people.

If you are stressing about TS credits, sit down with 2 versions of the MYM dining planner. Plug in the meals you absolutely have to have then fill in with your remaining TS credits. Star or note the ones that will need cancelling should you find that they won't allow sharing. I think you would feel better having a back-up plan.

GOOD LUCK! :goodvibes :wave2:
