Question about Dining Plan

My family of 4 are heading to Disney April 12-18. We are flying to Orlando late in the evening on the 12th. And we are flying home early on the 18th.

So my question is about the dining plan. Will we still get credits for the days we are flying. My reservation is for 6 nights so do we get credit for 6 nights even though we will be arriving at 10pm. Or do the credits start after you arrive? Not sure if that makes sense but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Melanie

Credit begins day you check in and ends at midnight your last sleeping night. Ex - check in on Tuesday at 10pm receive full credits for tuesday, check out on Sunday morning at 11am receive credits for Saturday - - MUST USE ALL CREDITS BY SATURDAY AT MIDNIGHT.
Not too worry - we were at the snack bar on our last night using all our leftover credits - it really is too much food!

You were mistaken on when the dining plan ends. It ends midnight on the day you checkout. So by the example, it ends midnight on Sunday.

A lot people are buying snacks to take home right before they go to the airport to use up their credits.

If I remember correctly, you have meals for each night you stay. Example: If you stay 5 nights, you get 5 days worth of food.

I found this out the hard way last September. I thought it was by the day and made one too many TS ADR's. Of course we didn't realize that until we had used all of our TS credits and realized our credit card got charged for one of our TS meals (our credit card was left on our room key for charging privileges). We went to the front desk to get it straightened out and have the meal taken from our meal credits instead of our credit card. That's when we found out the error.

Not true - just checked out of WL this monday at 6am. Our credits were only good until midnight on Sunday - by 12:01am monday they were removed. Any food purchases made after that point would have been charged to our room not the dining plan.

Ok so for us we are checking in on April 12 and checking out April 18. 6 nights so we will have 24 credits total.

Is that right?

Mickeywho?

You should have questioned that with a CM. According to the WDW website and from the Dining Plan brochure, the credits expire at midnight of your check-out date. This is from the brochure on page 1.

http://adisneyworld.disney.go.com/media/wdw/images2003/languagespecific/eng/nontheme/tickets/MYWDining.pdf

"Contact your hotel front desk at any time should you need assistance with
your meal plan balance. All unused meals expire at midnight on your package
reservation check-out date."

We stayed seven nights and had seven days worth of credits. The first day began on check-in day. When I questioned how it worked with the CM it seemed fairly straight foward to me. No matter what time we checked in on the first day we received the full days worth of credits. Same applied to check-out. Check-out day is not included as it is not a night you are staying in the room.
You pay for x number of nights and receive x number of credits. Why would you complain that you would not be getting x+1?

I'm guessing there is four of you? Yes that is correct 6TS, 6CS, and 6snack for each of you beginning on the 12th and ending midnight 17th. So go ahead and book a TS meal for the 12th as it is covered in your plan.

Yes. If you used up your credits before the last night of your stay, then you would not have credits on your checkout day. However, your credits do not expire until Midnight on your check-out day. So, if you do not wish to use credits on the day you check-in, you have until your check-out day to use them.

If you don't want all those credits, get a room only for the first night and have the package start the next day. That's what we're doing. You will have to check in twice though.

Thanks for clearing this up :) We will probably have time to use one meal's worth of credits on our check in day, and will need to eat 2 meals on check out day. So this should work out perfect! :cool1:

investgirlmd,
Yes that is right. Your reservation is for 6 nights for 4 people so you will receive 24 Snack credits, 24 CS credits, and 24 TS credits in total.
You can use them in anyway you choose. You do not need to use them each day. For example, on your check-in night you arrive after dinner time, so that day you use no credits. The next day you could have a TS Character Breakfast and a TS dinner and use 2 TS credits on that one day.
The credits, unless all used up, expire on midnight of your check-out day. So you could have breakfast before heading to the airport and pick up snack items for the trip home. It is very flexible.
Hope this helps to clarify.

Thanks for helping me out on this..... Not sure why it took me awhile to understand it. LOL

Since we are coming in late on the 12th and leaving easly on the 18th it will allow us to use some credits towards breakfast which we were going to pay for and use the CS & TS for lunch and dinner.

I'm very nervous about all this cause I feel like I'm just going in the wind with picking places to eat for dinner since most you need a reservation. I have read a lot of posts on here so I feel ok with the places I picked so far. We are going in April and I didnt realize some places would book up so quickly months before.

Thanks for all your help!

Are you guaranteed the same room? That actually seems like a good idea! Did you book through disney?

thanks!
