Sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find anything. We are planning on making a reservation for a meal. We were going to reserve a table for 6. I know Disney will charge if the entire party doesn't show up for a reservation.

My question is this. If I do make a reservation for 6 and 1 person in the party is not able to attend for some reason, will Disney charge us the 10.00 for the one guest who doesn't show? Or do you just tell them at the podium? We have someone who is planning to meet our party and wants to join us for the meal, but was wondering what would happen if we show up, only with a party of 5 when our original reservation was for 6.

They do not charge if someone does not show up, they charge if no one shows up and the whole party is a complete no show. We have made reservations for 4, when we were really 3 people, because no times would show up online for 3 ppl, but times showed up for 4 ppl. It is not a problem.

We did nearly the same thing.

We were trying to get a table for 2 at Chefs de France for the Candlelight Processional and nothing was available. On a hunch, I tried booking for 3 people, and a table showed up and we booked it.
I called a CM to see if we could change it to 2 without losing our reservation.
The CM said that as long as 1 person shows up, you won't be charged for anything and they will sit you.
Oh, and the 1 person who needs to show up must be the person who's name made the ADR.

Actually the person who made the ADR does not even have to be there. I made an ADR for my friend under my account for her November trip a few months ago. She couldn't find an adr for 7 people, so she booked one for 3 people on her account and I booked a 2nd one for 4 ppl on mine for her so they all had the same seating time. I was not going to be there at all. I actually got home from my trip the day they arrived. Just as long as someone shows up, all is good! :)
