Question about DDP/DVC

Hey everyone,

I currently have a reservation at BCV from Sept 30-Oct 5 with points that I rented from a DVC member (I am not a member, obviously :( ) We have annual passes, but I was told we could still get the DDP anyway because we are staying at a DVC resort with points. Is that true?
My second question: Is the DDP really worth it, as opposed to the Dining Experience Card (20% off) ?? We have ADR's for every day of our stay, some 1 TS, some 2.
If anyone can help, please give me advice--I've never used DDP before.

Thanks, Maggie

Maggie, it is true that you can add the DDP to a DVC reservations without purchasing tickets. The member from whom you are renting must make the call however.

Whether the DDP is worth it for your family only you can determine. If you plan your meals and do the math, you will know. We usually have 2 TS meals/day and use our DDE card for one of them so the DDP has been worth it for us. Your mileage may vary.

If you are using several 2 credti TS options, I would probably do the DDP and just pay OOP with the DDE discount for any TS that wouldn't be covered with the DDP because of the 2 credit option. We did this last trip, and still came out ahead.

Because you are not a member, the DVC person you rented from must call MS and make the DDP reservation for you at least 5 days before. You pay for it when you check in.

We have done both. We thought we ate way too much food on the DDP (to get our money's worth :rotfl2: ). The DDE worked out better for us since we got fewer TS ADRs, we didn't eat as often or as much, just what we wanted. And didn't spend as much.

We'll do the DDE again in Nov.

Deb, we found we didnt HAVE to eat an appetizer AND a dessert each meal to get the value out of the DDP, and we like to eat at teh signatures, so it makes sense for us. We have even decided to do it over Thanksgiving when we will have the grandkids with. We do have the DDE card also.

Adding up what we normally eat, as we seldom eat appetizer and dessert, the DDE card saved us (including tips) about $150 over what the DDP would have cost. As other posters have said, it depends entirely upon the make-up of your party, and your normal dining habits.
