First timer on DCL in April and can't wait! I'm thinking this might be a dumb question but here goes...once onboard will the app change in some way? Like we can see our onboard balance, activities, etc? Right now the app is pretty generic, so I am thinking yes! Hahaha

Thanks for your insight!

Yes most definitely - full functionality only happens once you're on board or can connect to the ship-based wifi (so, sometimes in the terminal)

Once on board, do check the app every day - the activities sometimes change!

Yes, the app is completely different once you are on DCL wifi. It can then be accessed by everyone, even those without a Disney account. (It will ask for name, stateroom number, and birthdate.)

The app used onboard (and in the terminal) will show exactly what is happening on your cruise, including locations, times, and descriptions of all activities for kids, families, and adults; operating hours for all food and beverage areas; dining room menus; charges to your stateroom account; option to purchase a placeholder for your next cruise; and ability to mark and view selected activities.

This is helpful to know! I was wondering how everyone in the stateroom can access the app without having to create their own accounts using separate e-mail addresses or setting it up on their devices using my e-mail address and password. Thanks!

Yes. You just need to bring it up and enter your name and cabin number. Just remember to have everyone download to their phone before getting to the port. There is no public wifi at the port so you won’t be able to do it unless you can connect to a family members hot spot. We found out the hard way when one of our teen grands hadn’t done downloaded the app and we had to buy wifi so she could download.

The "key" to identify each passenger is the date of birth and cabin number. There is no password or email login involved. They know you are a valid passenger since you are on the ship's wifi. It allows the system to be self-sufficient using the ship's manifest instead of requiring an internet connection, something that is not always available onboard.

Thank you for this thread. I have been wondering how this works and was worried I had to create more Disney accounts. Great info here!
