Hello,

My DH and I leave tomorrow night for WDW. :cool1:

On previous trips, my DH and I had to go through Customs seperately since we were common-law and not married.

I am not sure what to do this time. DH and I got married last summer and since neither of us changed our names we haven't updated our passports.

I am not sure whether we go through customs together or not. We are married now however when we filled out our passports we were only common-law.

Any suggestions? :confused3

You can go through together - I assume that you're living at the same address?? Whenever we travel with my MIL (who doesn't live with us) they usually take us through as a family.

It doesn't matter that your passports are in different names - if you were from Quebec and married, they would be in different names....

Have a great trip!!

Thanks for your resposnse.

I just never know.

Before we were married we trying going through together since we lived at the same address but they wouldn't let us.

I just wanted to make sure they wouldn't have issues with the fact that our passports say we are commonlaw but we are now married.

Go together, I think the customs officer you had last time was having a bad day! I've travelled about 20 times to the US in the last 5 years and have always gone through customs as a group. Most times were with friends and 3 times were with my girlfriend and have never been told that we have to go through seperately.

Some customs agents take their job VERY seriously, and prefer to have people clear one at a time... Annoying, but what can you do.

The majority allow you to clear together, and you should have no trouble! In fact, when you return to Canada - you'll only need to fill out one declaration form, since it's "one per family"!

Enjoy your vacation!!
