Anyone have any idea how Martin Luther King Holiday affects crowd levels? We are thinking of going from Friday-Wednesday over that weekend. Other option is to go either sometime in March or put it off until the Fall. Thanks for any input.

Hi and welcome to the DIS!

The parks will be a little more crowded than usual, particularly on Saturday and Sunday. But it is still the off-season and croweds will be a lot lower over MLK weekend than they will be in March.

I imagine we are going to go that weekend. Kids are too excited about going now to wait until October. Way the hurricanes have been lately feel a little more comfortable going in January than October anyway.

I was there last MLK weekend and it wasn't that bad crowd wise. The weather was horrible though and COLD, nothing compared though to when we returned to NJ and it was snowing

As an FYI, I think the College Cheerleading championships are there that weekend, too.

How long do you think the typical waits were for the more popular rides, like Splash Mtn?

I to was wondering what the wait time was for the major rides from January 5th to January 13th. Sounds not too bad.

Also, do you need fast pass during that time of year.

Thanks guys.

is to go the first week of January. I'm concerned there may be left-over crowds from the holidays and the marathon is January 7-8, which I understand might increase crowds.

We go in January every year and we'll be back again this year from 12th - 23rd. The lines are not that bad, no more than 15 - 20 mins. on the standby line for the major rides. Usually wait times no more than 10mins. A lot of the time in the past the fast pass machines were covered up because there really wasn't a need. It will be more crowded in the MK on Sat. and Sun. of MLK weekend but not that bad. See you there. Maine :firefight

The marathon fills up hotel rooms on the property and screws up vehicular traffic patterns around the MK and Epcot on race morning. But it has little to no effect on park attendance.
