Question about copy write on image found on DCL page

We are sailing on the January 06, 2011 PC cruise and have a question. On the DCL PC page, they have an image that we are using for our cruise logo.

Now the problem: A group of us would like to use this image on our FE gift which will be dry wipe boards. Since we'll not be selling these for a profit but will have a company make them, is it still a copy write problem? If so, how do we go about contacting Disney for permission to use this one image?

Most printers won't include any graphic that has the Disney logo on it because of the copyright issues.....you'll need a letter from Disney that specifically gives them permission to use it in your project.

To obtain such a copyright waiver you need to write to Disney corporate and request it. I'm sure there are exceptions made all the time, but generally Disney's canned response to requests for waivers is no.

You might try writing to the DCL instead of corporate....not sure if they have the authority to authorize it, but they may be more lenient if they can.

All that said.....obviously Disney's copyright is violated constantly as evidenced by all of us that use these DISigns and put them on resort windows, hand them out to CM/mousekeeping etc and with the exception of Amy on this board I've yet to hear of anyone being asked to stop. And from the sounds of it, Amy was contacted because of her website not because of the DISboards. And DIS is so popular when you do almost any google search on Disney that there is little room to believe that Disney corporate doesn't know about this place, lol.

Only you can decide your comfort level in using copyrighted images...but if you do decide to do so, you'll be fine company, lol.
