I just heard today that Disney waived ROFR on our BWV contract. So, we will own at two resorts two different UY. My question is at the 7 month window can I combine my points for one reservation or do I still have to transfer the points to do that? My plan is to book 3 nights- at each resort then when I get to my window if there is availability get 6 nights at one resort instead.

You will have to transfer. You can't combine points form different contracts unless you transfer first.

That's what I thought. I don't know why I hesitate about it, probably because it is new to me.

At 7 months, couldn't you just book 3 nights from each of the home resorts and have MS combine the reservation into 1? :confused3

If you want to reserve all nights right at 7 months, you will need to transfer prior to making the reservation.

If you do not transfer, you can reserve 3 nights using one membership and then reserve the other three nights three days later and have them all linked together.

There is no way to reserve all 6 nights at one time, right at 7 months, without all of the points available in the same membership.

The same thing applies with two memberships for the same resort, reserving at 11 months.

Good luck! :)

Yes, I could but that is not what my first choice would be. I prefer to stay at one resort so at 7 months I want to switch the whole vacation to BWV. Maybe I wasn't clear what my question was. Sometimes I don't think I am.

I think I understand now. I will reserve 3 nights at BWV when my points get loaded. Then at 7 months I will transfer my AKV points to complete the 6 days of the reservation. What is the negative for transferring points or is there one? Just that if you have to cancel for some reason you can not bank?

There is no negative with the transfer since those points can still be banked (they could not be borrowed though). With multiple memberships from the same person, MS has been allowing multiple transfers without using the once-per-Use Year limitation usually enforced for transfers.

The transferred points will retain the same Home Resort status and same Use Month.

Your plan of reserving 3 nights are each resort during the 11 month priority and then cancel the AKV reservation and transfer those points to the BWV membership to complete your reservation there sounds like the way to go. I'd also make sure the BWV dates are available before canceling the AKV - better to have a split stay at 2 resorts than 3 days at BWV with nothing for the last 3 nights.

Good luck! :)

Thank you Doc! So transferred points can be banked but not borrowed. I thought that you could not do either. That was part of my confusion. I want to understand all of the fact, so I can make an informed decision. I think I will get used to it. We have had only one contract for the past five years, but we are very excited to be adding BWV to our "home"!
