I just booked 2 full size rentals for Nov. 25th-Dec.3rd with National for $235.89 each using coup ID 10009123, Product code DWEB and Contract ID 6600330. Is this a pretty good deal? It seems to be the best one I can find at the moment. This is new stuff to me. This car rental business is so confusing!! I got the codes off the internet except for the coupon code I got from an entertainment coupon. Do I have to bring this coupon when I rent and do I have to show where I got the other codes? Can anyone tell me their experience with National? I seem to remember reading that you get to pick your own car and that they may have upgraded ones in your lane? Also, the Emerald Club is free right now. Should I join that to pass up the counter? I think when I was looking into it they needed my Credit Card number and I didnt know why they need that. They dont charge anything to it until you are there right? Thanks for any information. Like I said this rental thing is VERY confusing to me and time consuming to look for the good rates. THANKS A MILLION!!!!

Ok...The way to tell if it is a good deal is to check other rental agencies for the same date and the same car type to check other rates. Chances are these rates are pretty low, as you are going at a popular week. You will need the coupon - one for each rental. However, you do not need to explain where you got codes, etc. I used National in June and they were great. I am using them again in 2 weeks.

You do get to pick your own cars with the National at MCO. Joining the Emerald Club to bypass the counter is definitely the way to go. The reason they ask for a credit card is to save time at the check it. That is the credit card National will use to pay for the cars. You should not see any charges on the credit card until you pick up the car. They will put a hold on card for a certain amount and then charge you for the real amount when you return the car.

I hope this helps.

I would definitely join it. I did it one year. You bypass the counter and go directly to the parking area where you get to pick the car you want. You can also go to mousesavers.com and get more codes. I do this every so often, I go between this company and budget and whatever one gives me the better deal, I go with it.

evidently you can print that coupon out if you sign up for free trial offer at entertainment.com ( have never done this but others here have posted that they have and had no trouble printing the coupons during the introductory offer ) YOU do have to show the coupon to the check out booth, ( although last week in baltimore he did not take the coupon from me, said it was in the computer already ), thus your mileage may vary depending on who is in the booth but usually you have to present the coupon to the exit clerk

the product code is something that National adds automatically eg DWEB or some other codes, so you really do not have to add that or explain it

as far as the contract code, there is usually no problem with that one and you do not have to show how you got it....by the way, membership in priceless vacations is free or at least it was when we signed up

if you join Emerald Aisle it would only cover one of the rentals probably

a spouse is covered to drive with an Emerald club membership at no extra cost but do not know how it works with multiple rentals

Thanks guys for all the great information. I knew you all would have it. I actually rented one car for me and DH and the other is in my step fathers name for him and my mom so I guess we could both join the Emerald Club and both get to bypass the check in. Also, that is good news that a spouse is covered with the club because I was wondering what I was going to do the morning all the girls will be going to the MK early for CRT and the guys will come later. If only DH and SF got to drive that would be a problem. So glad to hear we will all be covered so that wont be a problem. Does anyone know how long the free membership special is going to be going on? Thanks again for the help. :wave2:

it seems to go on and on and on....

we got it free ( through some business site ) when we first started using National about 6 years ago....even if national does not offer it, other websites do....you just have to post the question and you will probably get a response

not sure, but think whoever the spouse is will have to show driver's licence too when you check out

do not know if you have to list that licence on your application form or not though

they are very helpful at the 1-800-962-7070 Emerald Club number

Did you check the price without the DWEB? You're probably OK but sometimes putting in a product code actually raises the price.

Yes, I did try it without the product code and it came out the same. Somewhere I read to try that. What is the product code anyway?

When National has a special and you click on the link for that special and book that way, the product rate code is automatically put in. I have NEVER had luck putting in a product rate code myself. It's an automatic thing that National does IF you qualify for whatever special they are running.

You will have to re-book with your Emerald Club membership if you join so you should decide soon.

If you do not join, then you will be booking via Quick Rent and you CANNOT use coupons with Quick Rent AND bypass the counter. You will have to go to the counter with Quick Rent. Then you can go pick from the FULL size aisle.

If you book Full size, that is all you will get. No upgrades. If you join Emerald Club and book Intermediate, then you can pick fromt the "Emerald Aisle" and have only a small chance at an upgrade, only Intermediate is guaranteed. Any other size booked, you will pick from that aisle and there is no chance for an upgrade.

I have always had success putting in a product code. I experiment with different codes until I find the cheapest (including putting no code at all in). I rent 3 - 4 times a year from National in Orlando. I have also added my emerald club information to a pre-existing reservation. I do this by calling the # on your emerald isle and having my pre-existing reservation info handy. Of course, for the emerald isle it needs to fit the profile of emerald isle rentals (intermediate size). In order to use codes, product codes, etc. you need to make sure that the parameters (length of rental, type of car, etc) MATCH the code, product code. For the best info on that go to www.mousesavers.com There is also info about some product codes on National's home page. I have a reservation for Oct 22 - 30th that has ranged from $320 to $189 depending on which codes, etc, that I put in. The rental rates can also change so check back on the site frequently.

as beatty family says, we have often found that we did not put in a product rate code but when we view or modify it, National has put a code there

eg for current ressie coming up

when we originally booked it we used Priceless code and Entertainment coupon

checking it now there is also a product rate code of VRWK put in there by national

the only times the product rate code seems to make a difference is when national is offering some special on their WEBSITE for a specified period

just did a lil experiment with our upcoming dates both with and without product rate code of WWEB ( using priceless and entertainment )

without it 146$

with code 203$

putting the VRWK code in changes it to 180$

that being said, of course everyone can "play" with codes to get their best price, we often do that too, we just do not use the product rate code usually
