Hi all! Just wondering something....if we check-in early, like around 11 am, will that give us a chance of getting a specific room? Will the DVC team member tell you what rooms they have left & then let you pick, given that you're among the first that day to check-in for that room type? Just wondering, because thanks to this wonderful message board, I have a wonderful idea of the views from each room, so I'm likely annoyingly informed. :) Checking into VGF in a standard view studio, by the way, in case you guys need that info. Tried to book lake-view studio but that room type was full. Thank you for letting me know what you might have experienced in regard to this!

No, they will basically tell you that you have been assigned a villa but it is not ready yet. Then you get a text message telling you your room number once it is available. They will not tell you anything about what rooms are vacant and available. If you ask for general information, like perhaps the building, floor, they might give you a hint. But that is it. With all the guests checking in, they really don't have the time to let you pick and choose.

Just make your requests on your reservation.

11AM really isn't that early. 6AM is early (and that is about as early as you get).

Hi Deb & Bill! We're driving 8 hours so 11 am seems early to us!
I've made the requests on the reservation so we will hope for the best.
Thanks for the information.

A couple of things. The resort employees work for Disney parks and resorts not DVC. DVC is in another town and they don't always know what goes on at the resorts and the resorts don't always know what goes on at the DVC.

IMO the earlier you check in the better your chances of requesting a different room. You need to understand that the rooms assigners start assigning rooms 7 to 10 days before check in and usually there are not rooms sitting empty available for assignment. If you ask for a better view, there is a good chance that they will take a room from someone who hasn't checked in yet and swap rooms.

Different resorts seem to have different policies and how they administer room requests. At AKV we were told that we would have to pay a cleaning fee since we opened the room door before requesting a different view. At BLT a few years ago we were told that their new policy was to not allow room changes once assigned. (that policy didn't seem to last long).
