Hiya Guys

As many of you know I am due to take my first August trip this year.

During our previous October visits DH would normally carry a rucksack around the parks to keep our essentials in, however when I've been explaining to him how hot this trip will be he now isnt keen on carrying a bag around all day.

I guess the idea of having a sweaty bag isnt over apprealling to him:confused3

I've suggested renting a locker maybe and popping back to reapply sun cream etc.. but what do you guys do?

Is there a good bag you can recommend?

Many thanks as always

we go for the bumbag look;) then at least you still have your hands free and somewhere to hold the bottle of water. Its surprising how much you can actually jam into a bumbag if you have to.:)

I'm going to be bringing my Vera Bradley small backpack and I hope that is all. They are very light and seem less likely to be hot than a big backpack. If DH wants to carry a backpack too then that is his decision. :thumbsup2

We just carry a rucksack and it hasn't been a problem in the heat. I couldn't be bothered to keep going back to a locker.

Small handbag type back pack or nothing at all! I would rather go bagless if at all possible it is so much more enjoyable. We are never in the parks all day so never carry sunscreen etc. We tend to drive as well despite staying onsite so I leave DD's change of clothes in there.

We tend to get a cup of ice water from the counter service restaurants (free!) instead of carrying bottles of water.

From this you should read I am lazy and just hate carrying stuff!

It's fine, I carry either a rucksack or shoulder bag most of the day on our August trips. I wouldn't recommend a locker, at the end of the day, if you can leave it in a locker you probably don't really need it in the first place. It's not a small bag either, 1 or 2 cameras, kids colouring books, possibly cool bag with drinks, 4 waterproofs and pack of kid wipes etc.

I really don't find August that hot and I used to hate the heat.

This year is our first July though so might change my mind yet!

This is me to a "tee".

If Hubby aint carrying it, it aint coming with us.

I can handle a camera with a credit card in the case but thats me maxed out;)

It used to be the only benefit of having to take a pushchair when our children were younger.

We don't do bags, we do bum bags :D You can get everything you need in them, cards, money, parks maps, suncream, camera, water etc

Hands free and you can go on most rides with them as well so less lining up at lockers.

The kids sometimes brought they're own little back pack but only with water and autographs books in so they weren't heavy.

This year we'll be going with a 1 year old, so we'll need a bag for nappies, wipes etc BUT OH isn't into big rollercoasters, so he'll take a stroll with Charlie while we go on the coasters, then meet us after, so he'll have the bag in the pram :D

Little tip I found worked really well when DD was still in nappies - I used to put some wipes in a ziplock bag so I didn't have to carry a full pack. Then in a separate ziplock I would put one nappy and nappy sack - this meant that when I went to do changes I just grabbed the mat, one of the nappy packages & the wipes. It made life a lot easier as I wasn't having to handle lots of stuff while carrying DD :goodvibes

I do the same with a damp facecloth. Put it in a ziplock bag and it is there all day if you need a quick freshen up.

I also have a backpack with a few frozen bottles of water. This is quite cool on your back and mark sure that you have a nice fresh drink throughout the day :)

another vote for the bumbag at WDW - nowhere else in the entire Universe should one by used but it's a must at WDW. :goodvibes:

Another vote for the bumbag here :rolleyes1

DH & I have one each & we take our own stuff in our own bags!!!! Otherwise I end up with it all!!

Mind you I make DH carry the water bottle :rotfl2:

We fit everything in, keys, wallet, park map, sunscreen decanted into a little bottle.
We also thread our caps though the fastening but when not in use.

No need for lockers, no sweaty back & hands free all day :thumbsup2

we always carry at least one small backpack, usually two...
one to stuff the wet ponchos into and the other to carry water, snacks etc

I bought a Victorinox Flex Pack at the airport last year and it was perfect - you can wear it as a rucksack, a bum bag or across your chest AND it doesn't look as hideous as a normal bum bag as it's a different shape. I managed to fit 3 ponchos in it, video camera, normal camera, purse etc. etc in it. Re suncream, we use that P20 once a day stuff - you can get it cheap on amazon and it truly is once a day, so no need to carry it around with you :)

Well it's a rucksack for us :thumbsup2

I'm afraid my girl guide training must have stuck with me as I like to 'be prepared'!!! We couldn't fit all our bits in a bum bag!! Suncreams, cameras, ponchos, glasses, sunglasses, phones, first aid bits n bobs, etc etc etc....

If my back gets a bit sweaty I hang the rucksack on the stroller for a while but as its August, we're all pretty sweaty anyway :lmao: I like to think of it as military training where carrying a load is par for the course :rotfl2:

Ali :goodvibes

hi ya! i just take a little messenger type bag. small enough for rides but fits in essentials, cameras, tickets, money, mini sun screen. although on my last trip i did talk my BF into taking a 'man bag' to the parks so we took it in turns to carry a bag! not always me!
