Question about cancelling ADR's

I have a question. We'll be at Disney in about 1 1/2 weeks, and I made our ADR's about 2 months ago. One of our ADR's is breakfast at Tusker House at 8:10 AM. Now some of our group (10 people total), are starting to complain that that's too early, and they want me to try to change it to a different time and/or day. I'm still thinking the ADR we have is probably the best situation. What happens if I try to get a different ADR, but don't yet cancel the one that I have? I would cancel one or the other as soon as I possibly could get things straightened out, but at this point it may be the day before the ADR before I had things settled for certain. Is there a penalty if you cancel, or if you show up without the original total number of people?

there's no penalty except those of us who were trying to get in on a ressie and couldn't we might just hiss at you for not showing up..:snooty:

I've had to rearrange ressies and I call the dining reservation number all the time...if there's no availability I call back in couple days...but I never cancel my ADR until I know for sure we are not going. but with 10 people I think it will be hard to accommodate you all last minute...
ah man I love tuskar house...it is early though 8:10a lol...I learned my lesson never do a breakfast before 9:30am...my son is little though...
but call Disney...it so much easier than doing online and trust me...one time...I called on the way to disney and got in a restaurant I wanted!!! but again...its only 2-3 of use compared to 10!!! good luck let us know what happened

With that large of a group you will have a hard time getting anywhere at 8am. It only takes 1 person to slow the whole group down and if they are complaining now you probably should cancel the ADR.

You can book another ADR before cancelling this one, nothing will prevent you from having 2 booked for similar times, but as courtesy to others who may be waiting for an ADR please cancel the one you will not be using ASAP.

If you show up for your ADR w/ less people than originally booked they *can* deny you a table, but that is rare and usually only happens during really busy times when all ADR's are booked (like during peak summer, christmas, or free dining). They will not seat your until your whole party is there at many resturaunts so if your whole group doesn't show you need to let the check in person know. If you are 1 or 2 people short it probably won't be an issue but if you have a ADR for 10 and 4 people show up you have an issue.

There is no penalty at Tusker house for no shows or cancellations.

We have shown up many time with less people than were on the reservation, people get sick, and we've never had a CM even bat an eyelash about it. Since Tusker House doesn't require a credit card guarantee, you won't have any penalties for it. On our trip this year at our Tusker breakfast, we had 11 booked, 5 missed the breakfast (4 had terrible flu and one overslept) and Tusker House CM's didn't have a problem with seating just the 6 of us.

Also, I would never cancel an ADR until I had the replacement booked.
