Question About Cabana Bay Rooms

Hi

I’m wanting to reserve a Tower Family Suite for my honeymoon (my fiancé and I love mid century modern styles!). But in researching, it seems like there’s different kinds. And when you go to book on the Universal site, it only has 3 options, so I need to know which room I should book on the site. I know there are different Buildings (Americana, Starlight, Thunderbird, etc.) and a new Beachside tower. Some of the suites seem to have just one bathroom, while some have 2 and 2 bedrooms, some have interior entry and some have exterior entry, etc. To make things simple, here’s what I’m hoping for: an interior room with a good view and no connection to the room next to it (I’ve had bad experiences with loud guests in neighboring rooms and connecting doors don’t help with noise). I really like the rooms seen in these videos: https://bit.ly/2M1LJmH and https://bit.ly/2Mq6N34. Especially a view of the water slide (and the lights at night)!

One last thing. I remember Orlando used to do Harry Potter special reservations. With, I think, little Harry Potter freebies and breakfast reservations at both HP restaurants. We booked one a few years ago but had to cancel. I went on the site to look and didn’t see anything about it. Do they still do those occasionally and should I wait until they do again?

Thank you so much for any info you can give!

Re. HP package- sorry- can't help there! I usually avoid the packages and book a la carte.

I think what your after is the poolside tower suites in either Americana or Continental buildings high floor. In those videos they were over the lazy river pool and not the slide pool. Those videos were shot from the Continental building. The slide pool suites have the window in the living room not the bedroom. The tower suites have interior entrances. The courtyard suites where the slide is has exterior entrances. I think all rooms are connecting except the two bedroom suites.

If you have a look at this page, https://www.universalorlando.com/we...als-cabana-bay-beach-resort/guest-suites.html, it breaks the room/suite types down into 3 categories:
  • Courtyard Suites - these are in the Starlight, Castaway or Thunderbird buildings, have an exterior entrance, one split bathroom and the "Poolside" ones overlook the slide pool
  • Tower Suites - these are in the Americana or Continental buildings (there may also be some in the new larger towers), have an interior entrance, one split bathroom and the "Poolside" ones overlook the lazy river pool and may also have a view of Volcano Bay
  • 2 Bedroom Suites - there are in the newest larger towers, Bayside and Beachside, have an interior entrance, 2 separate bedrooms and two separate bathrooms, and overlook Volcano Bay

The Harry Potter package is not on all the time, but does pop up from time to time, especially around Wizarding World events, like Harry Potter Celebration or the opening of a new ride or area. It would be posted on this page, if available: https://www.universalorlando.com/web/en/us/tickets-packages/deals-specials/index.html

I super hate connections rooms but the doors between rooms is by the kitchenette, not beds, so it was a non-issue for us.

I think the courtyard and the tower suites have the same layout (which is excellent. Very well designed. Efficient and asthetic.) I think the views depend on the room itself. Some cost more and have the views you are looking for -"poolside".
