Question about buying AP online before trip

DH and I already have APs, but the kids don't. I'd like to get AP for them for our next trip, but I'm not familiar with the online system. I assume it will work similarly to buying park tickets and linking them to profiles in MDE, but I want to be sure.

-When I purchase the AP, will it automatically be in my MDE account for me to assign the AP to each child?
-And will I then be able to make FP+ for the kids?
-When does the 1-year for the AP start?
-I don't want the AP to activate until the first day of our trip, but I want to be able to make FP+ now. Is that possible?

I called on the phone and the APs showed up in MDE. We were sent a voucher via email. We made our FPs no problem. The AP date started on the day we entered our first park. I went to Guest Relations to activate and link them to our MagicBands.
