question about building requests

Okay, first of all, I KNOW there are never any guarantees when you request a room or building or feature at any of the resorts. I just want to know if anyone else has ever had a similar experience as I have:
I booked a trip to All Star Sports last fall a couple months in advance of the actual trip. I asked for my reservation to include a request for the Touchdown building or at least something as close as possible to the main building. We were put in the baseball section about as far from the mainbuilding as you could get. When I asked about my request, the CM checking us in suggested that since I booked with an AP discount that I wasn't entitled to the closer buildings. Not in those exact words, of course, but something similar. We checked in fairly early in the day--like around noon but the guy insisted there was nothing closer available. Does anyone know if booking with a discount has any impact on having room requests honored.
I'm getting ready to make another reservation and hope to use the AAA discount at All Star Music. I really dont want the preferred section (prefer the theming at Jazz and Broadway--silly, I know) If booking with a discount means the stick me in country fair, I'll book somewhere else!

When you book a room that is discounted by a pin code, or an AP, or AAA, it doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is whether or not you have requested, and paid for, a special catagory....preferred, waterview, etc.
I'm not sure what the CM was talking about. When you book a preferred room, for instance, and you use the AP for a discount, it makes no difference what preferred room you get! That just boggles my mind that a CM would say that.
Now, if you want a preferred room, then book one. But, if you want a standard room, then you can ask for one that is closer to 'whatever you want to be closer' to. But, to say that you, and I'm going to assume this was the case, used an AP discount so you had to be happy with the dregs of the standard rooms isn't right. I think the CM was misinformed. I would make whatever requests you want. I have always been pretty lucky. There was one time at POP, where I had requested a higher floor, facing the lake, if at all possible. I ended up on the ground floor of 80's, facing the parking lot!! Yes, the lake was in view, way off to the right, but it sure wasn't facing the lake. When I asked the CM if there were any rooms on an upper floor, she looked at me like I had two heads, and said....and I quote..."Man, most people would kill to have your room! No, there are no other rooms open..just this one!" Okaaay then. I did end up likeing the room, but it sure wasn't the best room I've had at POP.

We have used AAA twice to book our rooms, and have gotten our request both times. Granted, we prefer a section of CSR that is not as popular, but still no problems getting EXACTLY what we wanted.

We have requested POP, 60's section, top floor, facing the lake for October. Hope I don't get ground floor facing the parking lot, too!

I only use the annual pass rate or AAA rate. I usually will get my request (but I only have either one specific one or a general "quiet room not close to the main building". The times I haven't gotten my request was when we've been in an area with lots of families. But this last time at Pop Century, I used the AAA rate, called just six weeks before we arrived, requested a king bed and got it.

There are sooo many CMs who honestly don't know enough about their jobs! We had a "great" one when we checked into the AKV last week. I refused to take the room he was giving us. Finally the CM next to him made a call and they were able to get me a better room for the next night. He had not a clue what he was doing. I used a lot of points for a savanna room and was given a view of a fence, people pen, and the barn. By insisting that he make it right, I was given a great savanna room for the next night.

I had another one tell me that they couldn't give me my room keys until my room was ready. Ummm---yes, you give me my keys that have my park passes and my dining plan attached and I call later to find out the room number. She insisted that she could not give me my room keys and went and got a manager....Yeah, I was right and she was wrong. Why is it that I know more than the darn people getting paid?????
