I've recently gotten hooked on BBC America...especially The Office and Coupling. The seasons seem very short, though...6 or 7 episodes. In the US the season usually starts in September and runs thru May...how does this run in England? Does a show maintain its timeslot and run a lot of reruns? Just curious!

TIA!

When the series has finished, it is replaced by a different programme. Repeats may well be shown, but not necessarily in the same time slot or the same day of the week. They might rerun the series once before the next new series, but seldom more than once.

Glad you are enjoying these series :) What else do you see from the Beeb in USA?

Thank you for responding!

Those 2 are my current favorites. Just started watching Manchild. Love What Not to Wear, Changing Rooms, Ground Force. I've found myself watching the news, too. Its fast becoming one of my most often watched stations.

On our PBS stations we've been watching some shows for years...As Time Goes By, old favorites like Fawlty Towers and Flying Circus, Blackadder.

Now if I could just get those Korean soaps that I used to watch on an international channel, I'd be all set! LOL!

So do you all get a US station like we get BBC America?

Thanks, Shirley - I was trying to work out how to explain it and wasn't really coming up with anything which made sense!

mtemm - we have Paramount which shows Spin City, Frasier, Married with Children, Dharma and Greg, Seinfeld, et al. We also have several US News channels (Fox is my fave - love 'Studio B' with Shep Smith!). We have the Disney Channel, too, but it is a UK version with UK presenters. Other than that, our tv companies buy loads of US stuff - Friends, ER, and so on. We have had US shows for as long as I can remember, though. I think that the UK exporting shows to the US is a relatively new thing.

we've had many UK shows for years on our PBS (public broadcasting). I think most of them were out of date, like Are You Being Served, but Masterpiece Theatre and Mystery seemed newish for the most part. BBC America has been around for a while, depending on where you are and what type of cable you have. I know my friend, Barbara, had it out in California years ago and used to rave about some of the shows...especially Absolutely Fabulous. We moved in November and finally have access to it.

Definitely fun to have around!

Mtemm,

I know exactly what you mean. I've become addicted to BBC America too. It's on all the time. Love the shows.

I ordered DH the Coupling DVD for his B-Day from the BBC America shop.

I have a feeling the US version won't be nearly as good. But you never know!!!
